Anything new to report for 2014?

Recently the ISD became fully functional and we've had a lot of progress on our VA work. We're pretty darned close to being asset-complete—FRED and polish is the lion's share of the remaining work. I'll probably put up a newsgrid when the ISD gets its final textures just because it's like the end of an era :)

I've only been drunk for 75% of 2014 so far.

How is the campaign-work going on ?

We could definitely use a gang of FRED elves to move the ball forward on that front. All the missions are fully scripted out, scenario and dialog written and with VA in progress, it's just the doing that's stalled at the moment.

But there'll be progress this week.

I already announced my retirement twice, yet here I am. If I bring up that topic again, don't believe a word.

I'd like to know if the SWC's plans are going to change considering that Episode VII is coming out relatively soon.

I don't know anything about it except for the usual rumors about casting, but should the movie feature new ships and spacecraft, would you add them to your pack or just focus on the original trilogy?

I'm 99% certain it'll have no impact on our plans whatsoever.

How about doing some anagrams of names of Disney characters. The developers of X-Wing did some anagrams in some missions. Anagrams like:

Tour of Duty 1, operation 1:
FRT Arreis=>Sierra
FRT Nigiro=>Origin
FRT Murtceps=>Spectrum
FRT Orcim=>Micro
FRT Esorp=>Prose

Tour od Duty 3, operation 6:
FRT Diputs=>Stupid

Tour of Duty 3, operation 10:
FRG Retsub=>Buster

Back when I first launched FRED, I made a mission where every cruiser was named after an Eddie Izzard show. The PVC Dress to Kill unfortunately did not survive very long.

Hahaha - I recall a Stimpson'ja'kat and... Ren.... something or other in one X-wing mission :)

The former appears in the 1st bonus mission of X-Wing CD.

Most people would just call those "words spelled backwards".

Most people would just call those "words spelled backwards".

On the other hand: Anagrams can also be letters from words in many different orders. For example: In Star Trek, Mark Lenard played Spock's father Sarek, the Romulan Commander in "Balance of Terror" and the Klingon Captain in "ST: The Motion Picture". The Decipher Trading Card games named the Romulan Commander "Keras" and the Klingon Captain "Krase", all of which are anagrams of "Sarek".
I took this example to illustrate that anagrams don't necessarily have to be words spelled backwards. :)

He wasn't talking about anagrams in general, he was talking about your examples from X-Wing... all of which are just words spelled backwards, which is what most people would call them, rather than calling them anagrams (even though, yes, they are technically anagrams).
