Hello i just assembled a new computer for myself and it is very nice except for one thing.
Freespace will not run.
I have fixed all of the normal things that usually pop up with a new install by just downloading open, but there are a few that just wont go away.

1.) When i go to choose a binary root to play (I am using the wx launcher btw) It gives me an error
              The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.
2.) I DID get that to go away for a minute, and so i was like wohooo home free! But after opening freespace using the mediavp mod just to see its beautifulness again, the mod didnt load. I had it activated but it did not load in the beginning. I tried closing and opening again. This time i saw the mediavp loading screen for a split second and i was like "YES!" but the mod still did not take effect.

I gave up for a bit, and when i last came back to it i got the first error again.
I am on Windows 8 and i think maybe this might be the problem.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

The game will not even open when the first error comes up so i cant get a log file.
It wont even let me go into advanced settings and it says fs2 open was unable to form flags.

I used fsopeninstaller from fsopeninstaller.com or something and i have heard it does not work so il try just reinstalling and manually doing it. But if there is a fix by all means post here

We really need a log file to solve your problem. Can't you just double-click on the debug executable?

In addition, it would help if you were to tell us exactly which build you're using.

FSO on Windows 8 64 bit works fine, by the way.
