Hint: kill the big words first, they shoot random letters at regular intervals.

Ooooh, that's good. The sound and music are very satisfying. I got to wave 22.

Re: Z-Type (missile command for typing practice)
I got a final score of 3354 on wave 30-something (why doesn't the score screen tell you your final wave? Oh well). Not even remotely interested in playing on the harder difficulty...

schrödinbug (noun) - a bug that manifests itself in running software after a programmer notices that the code should never have worked in the first place.

<Aesaar> literary criticism is vladimir putin

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again
<MageKing17> "That doesn't really make sense to me, but I'll assume it was being done for a reason."
<MageKing17> **** ME
<MageKing17> THE REASON IS PEOPLE ARE STUPID
<MageKing17> ESPECIALLY ME

<MageKing17> God damn, I do not understand how this is breaking.
<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.
<MjnMixael> 2 hours later... "God damn, how did this ever work at all?!"
(...)
<MageKing17> so
<MageKing17> more than two hours
<MageKing17> but once again we have reached the inevitable conclusion
<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<@The_E> Welcome to OpenGL, where standards compliance is optional, and error reporting inconsistent

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.

<IronWorks> I am useful for FSO stuff again. This is a red-letter day!

<MageKing17> TIL the entire homing code is held up by shoestrings and duct tape, basically.

Woo. 3874, on wave 36 I think? In the end they just swarmed me.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something
[16:58] <battuta> it felt good to have a target to hit
[17:00] <RangerKarl> not sure if talking about strike mission, or jerking off
[17:00] <CommanderDJ> WUT
[17:00] <CommanderDJ> hahahahaha
[17:00] <battuta> hahahaha
[17:00] <RangerKarl> same thing really, if you think about it

Re: Z-Type (missile command for typing practice)
Thanks for this! I've been thinking of getting The Typing of the Dead for the longest time so that I can improve my typing skills, but this probably works equally well.

Re: Z-Type (missile command for typing practice)
Yeah, I made it through the first 15 waves on Normal and got bored.  Nothing was making it even a quarter of the way down the screen. :p

Well, I'm hooked. Best I got so far was a score of 7185 on expert mode. Died during wave 19... one mistake's all it takes to fail at that point

Re: Z-Type (missile command for typing practice)
On one hand I only made it to 15 or so on hard...

...on the other hand, I'm on the verge of passing out I'm so sleepy and I don't even know why.
