Morrigan in the Sunglare
Because Battuta's mythical humbleness would never let him drop a link of his own work here, I guess someone else has to do the job.

It's awesome read, despite there not being anything really new for anyone who knows BP2.

Request for a mod to fold space and merge the two threads about this.

Is there a list of all his writings anywhere? I've read some, and I know I've missed others

Re: Morrigan in the Sunglare
sethdickinson.com has them all.

I'm not worried about merging the threads, I'm happy to have one in BP since the story is so relevant.

Finished it. Very good. I played WiH, loved the bit of extra context this gives. Gotta say I have not been disappointed in any of your works yet, they're all fantastic. Side note,  a friend was reluctant about submitting some lines for the va for bp until I told her you were involved in this project (The Immaculate Conception of Private Ritter is her favorite short story). Which isn't on your website?

Good point! I'll add a link to it.

Read and listened to it today. Great stuff! Is it BP canon by any chance?

Well, some Vasudans are replaced with "civilians" and the dialogue doesn't match the game's script (also, coilguns), but then, there's not really anything covered in the story that wasn't already covered in WiH (as Luis Dias said, there's not "anything really new for anyone who knows BP2").

In a nutshell, it's a well-written short story that takes a slice of acts 1 & 2, removes overt references to Freespace from the setting, and has different dialogue. As a result of these changes it also has a rather different "feel" from WiH, but it's still recognizably BP.

<Aesaar> literary criticism is vladimir putin

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again
<MageKing17> "That doesn't really make sense to me, but I'll assume it was being done for a reason."

<MageKing17> God damn, I do not understand how this is breaking.
<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.
<MjnMixael> 2 hours later... "God damn, how did this ever work at all?!"
(...)
<MageKing17> so
<MageKing17> more than two hours
<MageKing17> but once again we have reached the inevitable conclusion
<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<@The_E> Welcome to OpenGL, where standards compliance is optional, and error reporting inconsistent

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.
