Karen Traviss is good for Republic Commando and Hard Contact, and after the publication of those two books might as well not exist in terms of "good" Star Wars EU. Zahn is good. Stackpole and Allston on the X-Wing series was good. Stover's novelization of Revenge of the Sith and Traitor during the New Jedi Order were also very good.
Beyond that it starts to get fuzzy.
Which is all besides the point that Disney isn't necessarily throwing out all of the EU, they're just taking the time before the next movie comes out to definitively say what is and is not canon - something that Star Wars has sorely, sorely needed for decades.
