it looks gaudy and ridiculous. we are going to be the laughing stock of the space fairing world.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Re: Danger, Will Robinson!!
We only know one Space-faring world, it's us, and we're already a laughing stock, so where's the harm? ;)

i meant the parts of the world that go to space. as opposed to the ones that dont (they will laugh at us too).

Re: Danger, Will Robinson!!
Yes, but they'll be laughing at us on Mars, from Earth. It's kind of like laughing at Usain Bolt because you think his shorts look odd as he goes up to collect the Gold Medal...

Heh, the suit has space-shorts

Re: Danger, Will Robinson!!
IIRC, that isn't the suit that's going to Mars. That's the one that people voted on design for. It was even posted around here. It's silly, but it's just a prototype, I think.
Besides, I'd rather see them in biosuits on Mars. The era of bulky suits is slowly coming to an end, at least two projects are ongoing to make a skintight space suit that you could then wear anti-meteoroid armor over (which could be no more bulky than a full military-type body armor).

Re: Danger, Will Robinson!!
why do i get the feeling that this was voted in as the least stupid of 3 stupid options
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

Nasa said the Z-2 spacesuit was only a prototype, but elements of it would be incorporated into the suit worn by the first humans to reach the Red Planet.

It's all just a read of the article away. It's not the finished article, nor do I think anyone really thought it was, it was a concept as I said in the first post, but I know this place well enough by now to know the conclusions people would jump to, so it doesn't bother me.

Pretty much, yes, one of the others looked like Buzz Lightyear's suit ;)
