Homeworld or Cataclysm?
Hard choice. I own them both.

 I like Homeworld for its kickass ships and storyline. Also you get to choose which species you want: Kushan or Taiidan (Kushan ships kicks ass!). Good mission design.

  No time compression. Cant change the difficulty level.

Homeworld Cata:

  The gameplay is much better. Weapons are improved. An ok storyline. The time compression option. Better multiplayer options. The Siege cannon is ok too :). Mimic tech is cool.

 The new cap ships dont seem to pack the same punch as in HW. I absolutly hate the support units. Hate the Fog war thing. And the thing I hate most is the unit capping in single player and multiplayer. I loved in HW, in CPU games, having 25 Heavy Cruisers, 40 or so destroyers and so on. Oh the good times.

My vote Homeworld!

Homeworld or Cataclysm?
I vote for Cata, not because I'm working on a mod for it but because it developed many under-developed parts of the original HW storyline and removed most of the mystery of the Bentusi.(**note, this last part was bad!**)
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

Homeworld- I don't have Cataclysm, and the Kadesh are one of the better forces I've met in any game.

HW:C - I, unlike many, loved the support unit routine. It made the game more... well, strategic instead of building a bigger badder army quicker than the other player.

And Kuun'lan just looks so damn cool.

Bah. You're an admin, you've had practice at this spanking business. - Odyssey

k...no

the su is just like in hw...except it's all variable

you could have like 4 dreads, or you could have 220 acolytes, where as in hw you could only build 3 cruisers and a max of 80 fighters.

and in mp games (since everyone plays somtaaw now cause of the 101 patch) support mods are cheap and build fast....if anything it's not as strategic as hw, since you NEED the carriers in cata (in hw you don't), you can pop out 220 acos in less then 8 or so minutes i think...but in hw, to have an effective fighter element you need to mix bombers, ceptors and scouts up in an effective swarm, not just 200 acos all rushing a single target.  And seeing as how ru disappears a lot faster in hw, a 2000 ru carrier can be difficult, if not an out and out waste, to build.

so ya see, if you think about it cata is less strategic then hw....and more tactical...  Of course, just play Radial Symmetry in an MP game against a good player and you'll see how tactical hw can get ...hehe

Ready to dodge the flak... I bought Both of them and then quickly returned them for my money back... I was into trying to mod them but after playing them I didn't want to do teh same thing over and over with different looking ships (tried the bab5 mod I was narm comp was Centari)... I decided forget this I am going back to FS2 and not looking back! :)

Don't be angry... Just my opinion
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !
