Huge Graphic Glitches [SOLVED]
Heyo all

After a ton of help from people with my launcher issue (solved btw thank you all SO much ), I am now able to play the game just fine, except...

...all external ships (capital ships and fighters) and asteroids etc turn bright yellow or light violet whenever I shoot my guns! This is weird, if you ask me. I thought I's be able to play through it, but seeing as I'm using my guns pretty-much the whole game, it get pretty distracting  :wtf:

Any ideas?

Thanks a ton in advance :)

What kind of graphics hardware do you have?

I just built it and installed windows a month ago so everything should be up to date lol. I mean, I can run skyrim full-out so I shouldn't have a problem with diaspora :(

Re: Huge Graphic Glitches
Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

In addition, can you make a screenshot or two showing this in action? You can take them by pressing the Print Screen button, the screenshots will be deposited in Diaspora\Screenshots.

Hello

When I go into debug mode, it crashes on the load screen after I hit the "Briefing" button.

Here's the text for that (I've also included my log and some screencaps)

Re: Huge Graphic Glitches
They'll turn white and will flicker between weird colours and  normal graphics, but they're mostly the weird colours.

sigh  :nono:

Wowsers, never seen that before and I'm using a similar video card to you (GTS 450).

A couple more points; that message you received was a warning, you can continue by selecting "no" (i.e. don't break into the debugger).

Secondly, we actually need the fs2_open.log file, it should be in Diaspora/data/fs2_open.log. If you installed Diaspora to Program FIles, then it'll be somewhere else.  Check the link that The_E posted to find the "virtual store" that WIndows will have stashed it into.

Wasn't there a new build as of the 1.1 patch?

Re: Huge Graphic Glitches
The fs_open.log file is there...the link's there just above the screencaps :)

As well, I've applied the 1.1 update.

Weird as hell lol

Re: Huge Graphic Glitches
Oops.  So it is  :nervous:

I think your video drivers need to be updated.  Here's yours:

Code: [Select]
Initializing OpenGL graphics device at 1136x652 with 32-bit color...
  Initializing WGL...
  Requested WGL Video values = R: 8, G: 8, B: 8, depth: 24, stencil: 8, double-buffer: 1
  Actual WGL Video values    = R: 8, G: 8, B: 8, depth: 24, stencil: 8, double-buffer: 1
  OpenGL Vendor    : NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL Renderer  : GeForce GTX 460/PCI/SSE2
  OpenGL Version   : 4.0.0

And here are mine, note the different supported OpenGL version.

Code: [Select]
Initializing OpenGL graphics device at 1600x900 with 32-bit color...
  Initializing SDL...
  Requested SDL Video values = R: 8, G: 8, B: 8, depth: 24, stencil: 8, double-buffer: 1, FSAA: 4
  Actual SDL Video values    = R: 8, G: 8, B: 8, depth: 24, stencil: 8, double-buffer: 1, FSAA: 4
  OpenGL Vendor    : NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL Renderer  : GeForce GTS 450/PCIe/SSE2
  OpenGL Version   : 4.4.0 NVIDIA 331.38

It seems the most recent drivers are version 340.52, so maybe give them a go.

Re: Huge Graphic Glitches [SOLVED]
Greetings :)

The driver update solved my issues. It's odd that drivers that are newer than the game make the game go all glitchy...I dunno w/e lol it works now and I'm happy!

Thank you very much for your help niffiwan   I will mark the topic as solved :)

I go play now  :D
