Yari is a tough sonuva***** and knows more about guns than some Quartermasters do. Spending a lifetime learning and building an arsenal of her own, it only made sense that she ends up wielding the SAW against the aliens. Just be sure to brush up on your anime as any conversation will inevitably wind up talking about one she saw yesterday

One word of advice - when a terror mission comes, load everyone with grenades and rockect. Lots of them.

I'm playing long war now too and on a terror mission you can easily get attacked by 3 groups of 3-4 Chrysalids at the same time. (plus more groups in waiting)
And RNG damage does not affect them, so you're at a severe disadvantage.

GET EVERYONE TO THE ROOF. YESTERDAY.

Seriously, Long War can send large battleship to do terror mission and they come loaded with reapers and zombies.

I just faced against 30+ reapers and zombies. The roof (and lots and LTOS of explosives) saved me. Reapers can't climb!
