Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
ok....i've been away from the community for errr....a while... anyway, I've been trying to install everything and put everything together the last couple of days and i've managed to get fsport working with 3612 vps, but even with this patch i cannot get the 2014 vps to work...on the loading splash screen it tells me there's 71 errors.....I have no idea how to resolve
I have had this exact problem, down to the number of errors, when trying to use FS Port MediaVPs 3.4 with FS Port.

If I try to proceed, the game crashes as soon as I attempt to enter the mission briefing screen, with the following error message:
Code: [Select]
Can't open model file <S_Rockeye.pof>
ntdll.dll! NtWaitForSingleObject + 12 bytes
KERNELBASE.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_NO-SSE.exe! <no symbol>
Completely different problem, or related?

(FWIW, same issue if I use a different executable, e.g. 3.7.2 RC4 with SSE)

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
So the funny thing about that is that when I tried to follow the instructions (run in window, use Debug build), the program crashed in an entirely different way.  Instead of getting as far as the main menu screen and then crashing when I tried to enter a mission briefing, the game crashed right at the splash screen (with the SCP logo), and the following dialog appeared:
Code: [Select]
Weapon explosion 'Shivan_Impact01' does not have an LOD0 anim!
KERNELBASE.dll! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_SSE-DEBUG.exe! SCP_DumpStack + 354 bytes

fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_SSE-DEBUG.exe! parse_modular_table + 267 bytes
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_SSE-DEBUG.exe! weapon_init + 101 bytes
fs2_open_3_7_2_RC4_SSE-DEBUG.exe! game_init + 1732 bytes

KERNEL32.DLL! BaseThreadInitThunk + 14 bytes
ntdll.dll! RtlInitializeExceptionChain + 143 bytes
ntdll.dll! RtlInitializeExceptionChain + 90 bytes

However, a log file is indeed generated, and here it is:

Missing many files in mediavps_3612: MV_Music.vp, MV_Assets.vp, MV_Assets.3612.vp, MV_Effects.vp, MV_Effects.3612.vp.
Run again FreeSpaceOpenInstaller or download files from link.

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
FYI - the 2nd issue you reported isn't a crash.

Code: [Select]
Weapon explosion 'Shivan_Impact01' does not have an LOD0 anim!
(etc)

It's a "warning" generated by the debug build.  You should be able to continue past this by selecting "No" when asked if you want to break into the debugger.

Having said that, it's not relevant in this case since as tomimaki said, you are missing most of the mediavps_3612 files and that looks like the cause of the 1st issue.

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
I don't know how that's possible.  The last go was at least the third time I'd run the Open Installer and let it download absolutely everything.  Maybe it didn't finish?  Checking..

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
Try rerunning the installer, select "Custom", then check "Re-run installation for mods that are already installed and up to date". The only issue is that you're going to re-download a lot of data, depending on the number of mods you have installed.

You could also try removing the fsoinstaller.properties file that should be in c:\users\USERNAME, deleting the mediavps_3612 folder then rerunning the installer again and selecting all the mods you want - I think this will only redownload the files it can't find for that one mod. I must admit that I haven't actually tried this myself though...

Re: Support for Objekt's FSPort Crashes
Well it looks like a lot of stuff never finished downloading.  I'd thought letting the installer run overnight would be sufficient - apparently not.  I'll give it some more time.

Yup, looks like I can run FSPort with the 3.4 Media VPs now :)  Thanks guys!

Wow, I didn't realize what I was missing!  The 3.4.12 ships etc. are gorgeous!

The new music is incredible!

Very impressive!
