Check out the new node map i've just made for the GCA Campaign . It's got all the official systems (one of the un-named ones now is called Beta Arachnis). And i think looks quite cool. Click the link and its in the download section (it will take a long time to appear). Wot do ya think?

Both of the ones on the Volition nodemap have since been named, if those were the ones you were referring to (the map link is an X).

The one next to Polaris is Epsilon Pegasi (aka Enif). The other one is Gamma Draconis. Alpha 1 goes through (and fights missions in) both of them in FS2.

[V] was a bit lazy and didn't bother updating that map since FS1, that's all.

I take it you didnt actually look at the map then because it is the system after Gamma Draconis that is named.

Well, like I said, the map was an X. It wouldn't load.

I like the map but it's a little messy in places (E.g Dubhe, Alphard and Barnard's Star)

I`m guessing the damaged knossos between Ikeya and Gamma Draconis is a plot thing rather than a mistake.

Messy, i'm not sure what you mean, i think you are refering to the fact that some paths go through sytems, i thought it looked ok but prehaps not.

All i'll say is it wasn't a mistake

I'd guess that those nodes leading off the map should not be unstable, but maybe rather lead to dead-end, empty systems like Gamma Draconis.  Unstable nodes wouldn't be on an official nodemap.

thats a good idea. I original had them as working ones like the official map but i thought it would be strange for them not to have been explored, but thats a very good explination, thanks.;)

It makes the map look a little messy to me
The thing is that the map isn`t a representation of 3D space (otherwise Alpha Centuri, Sol and Barnards Star would be much closer together) so it's prefectly okay to move the stars around. The important thing is the nodes and which stars they link to. That's the number 1 priority on this map so the nodes should always be clear.
An example of what I mean is Procyon A. There was no reason why you couldn`t move that star to the right of Adhara and have a clear view of the link between the two systems instead of having the line pass through Epsilon Pegasi.
You also have several nodes crossing which don`t actually need to.

Anyway this isn`t a dig at your nodemap (which is far better than anything I could do) just a few suggestions on how it could be improved.

Wow! Nice node map, but I'm completely surprised that no one caught this...Capella is spelled incorrectly hehehe To say I'm surprised is at the least  But other than that, a very good node map.

EDIT: More misspellings: Beta Cycni should be Beta Cygni. I think Aldebaran should be Aldebaren or Aldebarren, although I'm not too sure about that. Also, I think Barnard's Star should be Bernard's Star. I think that's it :D

1) Aldebaran is spelled right.
2)Not sure, but Barnard's Star is called this way in other maps...

OK, I have a couple of comments too.

1) Capella is misspelled. People have said that before, but I don't know if I'm looking at a new version of the map or an old one, so I'd thought I'd reiterate, just to be sure. Capella should have only one 'p' and two 'L's.

2) The system that is named Beta Arachnis is actually the nebula beyond the Gamma Draconis system. Thus, it shouldn't be named like a star, because, by definition, it isn't a star. It's a nebula and needs to be named as such, so naming it as Beta Arachnis seems inappropriate.

3) The system beyond that one (which is the system Alpha 1, Commander Snipes and the other two SOC pilots jumped into while they were flying Terran Maras) is a binary star system, so this system can be named after a star. HOWEVER, considering how far this star system is likely to be from GTVA space (God knows, it could be anywhere outside the Milky Way galaxy, if not on the far side of the Universe!), you might want to call this system by a number and some sort of acronym to designate it as a Shivan held system. (My example that I'm using for my campaign is KSS 001 for "Known Shivan System 001". You'll have to come up with something else for yourself.)

Aside from that, the map looks really nice!

Do not change Barnard's Star, it is correct.  Nice map.

ok, i need a bit more help with common concensus and canon since my current version of FS2 is littered with GCA stuff which i need to leave.

1) is the capella system now a nebula?

2) Where is the first knossos found (Capella?)

3) In the SOC mission through the nebula knossos, there is another shivan system. At the other side of the system is it a knossos or a normal node? (there was one because i once found myself accidentally flying towards the wrong one:doh: )

4) anything else?
