If you want to praise someone praise my doctors and all the hard work and long years they put into their educations, and the scientists who did decades of grueling and often disappointing research into treatment options, and the research patients who volunteered to be subjects for experimental treatment.

Yes, but that's a real mouthful. I can see how thanking the one guy might be a little easier.  Like how we say Happy Holidays.
