it looks to me like a shockwave from the explosion of that err, black circle in the middle. only most of it is off-screen.
i know this cos i always tend to set my shockwaves too large and slow to look smooth. they jerk and are very bit-mapped mabey try a drawing one? (BTW it's MUCH better than i could do so don't bother saying that anyone )

cool, my only suggestion would be to have the shockwave smaller so it can clearly be seen as a shockwave, and blur the edges of the DH just a bit. what actually exploded? super bomb?

anyways, nice job
