I was thinking that everyone is doing nice pretty renders but how much skill do you all have with a real camera, here's one of my shots. I have it in a tif on my PC but this is a low quality jpg so it doesnt look as good as the real thing. I took it using only a £200 digital camera and a tripod, £200 doesnt get you much of a digital camera. It has had nothing done to it in PS, this is the original raw image. Enjoy

:)

That is pretty nice..I would've found a less diseased leaf though

Here's mine, edited in PSP, I call it The Sprite

I like the effect, its really good:yes:

I thought the diseased made the subject look more interesting than just a plain plum tree.

Heres another photo, i was trying to get a good depth of field. Again 100% unedited.

I love photography, and have lots of them taken with my Canon EOS 500n, but I don't have a scanner. :p

I love photography too...
Riven, your photos are good, my only suggestion would be to work on the cropping, for an image with more impact.
Alikchi, I agree with Riven, the effect is... interesting... ;)

Here's an example of mine, I took this a few days ago with a Nikon outfit and a 70-150mm lens. I resized the image to fit your monitors a little better ^_^  It's a pity about the dust all over it, I'll have to fix that in Photoshop.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Sandwich i love the concept for your nature interupted pics but i think you need to invest in either a tripod or try taking sharper pics because all of it seems a tiny bit blured.

Hmmm... true. It's just a semi-cheap digital camera, and I can't manually choose the focus, so I'm not surprised. And for the closeups, I haven't quite mastered estimating how close I can get to the subject...

does your camera have a macro mode? should look like a little flower. This will reduce the depth of field and make the object quite sharp. Also are the pics on the highest quality setting and in what format does the camera save them?

lol - I'm that competent, at least. Yeah, it has macro and that flower/grenade pic was using it. Problem is that the macro ain't the best - I can only get as close as 20cm. Any closer and it can't focus.

And now that I have a 128Mb memory stick, I save all my pics in high-quality JPEG. They average 400kb each. :)

that distance is the min i can go. If u can zoom in do that, but with the auto focus u need to focus on the same level as the grenade. I presume your shutter has 2 stages. In macro point the camera exactly at the grenade and press the shutter to the first stage. Then rotate the camera to what u want to shoot (but dont move it back or forward) and press to the second stage. This will mean that the auto focus is still at the same distance as the grenade.
