I found these things very interesting when I first learned of them:
Didja know that the gamma and zeta functions do not satisfy any algebraic differential equation?
Didja know that integrals of the form ò (xp+1)q dx can be evaluated in terms of logarithms and elliptic integrals only for p£[/size]4 ?
Didja know that the gamma function has no zeros on the entire complex plane?
Didja know that the function y=xx is defined on the real number plane in the negative x area only for rational x of the form p/q where either p=q or q is an odd number? (in other words, it has infinite numbers of discontinuous points in finite intervals while still being defined at neighboring points; very weird)
Didja know that the infinite hyperexponential function y=xݥ=xxxx... is equal to x=y1/y for convergent values? (I was really surprised by this one when I first found out)
Didja know that there exist pathological functions that are continuous everywhere but differentiable nowhere? (one example is the Weierstrass function, given by å¥k=1 cos(15kpx) / 2k )
Also, my brother tells me that the first McDonald's was started somewhere in Russia, but I am not sure if that's true or not since I have not really seen or heard that anywhere else.
