Ah look, a microcosm of why SWG will be a bit of a pain in the arse. You see, everyone wants to be a Jedi Knight, and "won't settle for less", yet A) You cannot start as one; and B) Only a few people ever get there.

Still, those few should make a bit from their characters on eBay. :D

I have a question though. Why are miners and farmers 'elite' professions? And of course, I will be an exceptional (ly bad) bounty hunter - except I can't be bothered to pay monthly, so it will only be in my head.

Funnily enough, Coruscant never existed in the original Trilogy. Timothy Zahn created it.

:wtf: You sure...?

*thinks*

Wow - I do believe you're right. Which means one of two things:

a) Zahn was in cahoots in some way with Lucas and got the go-ahead for introducing Coruscant.
b) Lucas was so taken by Zahn's creation that he adopted it as canon.

Although either option is a good sign, I personally am hoping for #2 - it increases the chances that 7-9 will be done according to Zahn's Thrawn trilogy... ;7

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

IIRC, #2 is correct. :D

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like 7-9 will be the Thrawn Trilogy. Besides, Harrison Ford will be around 65-75 during filming, and the plot requires them to be a lot younger.

Wait a sec - last I heard, Lucas was soo pissed at the criticism ( - inside joke, eh Kellan? :p ) he got from EP1 that he decided to cancel 7-9... :wtf:

Inside joke. Quite. He needs to take it like a man. So to speak. :p

Last I heard, it was shrouded in mystery. The future clouded was. The Dark Side covered everything. Umm...but I thought he was pleased by Ep2 and was considering writing a new story with new characters for the next part.

However, it would dominate his life for another 10 years, and maybe he doesn't want that. He's not a young guy, y'know? :)

Well, he would certainly save a lot of headaches by using the wonderful bit of art that Zahn has already crafted. And as long as he was as true to the Thrawn trilogy as they were to LotR, he wouldn't be under too much danger of being burned at the stake. :p

Yes, I read the books numerous times, and I'm aware of what I said. However, you have to admit that the end result of the Fellowship of the Ring movie was much better than, say, Hunt for Red October, the books of both were fabulous.

Reporter: Mr. Lucas, I understand there were once plans for Star Wars VII-IX to be created using the plot from Timothy Zahn's bestselling trilogy.
Lucas: This is a widespread misconception, and I'd like to make it clear that it's simply out of the question. The actors have aged, it's a far too big jump, and it simply doesn't include all the characters I'd like to ha-
Darth Zahn: CGI you will use.
Lucas: I'm afraid CGI just won't work, even with the technology today
Darth Zahn (Waving hand): CGI will do fine
Lucas: No, it won't
Darth Zahn (Still waving hand): Yes, it will.
Lucas: No, it won't
Darth Zahn (Handing Lucas a Jar-Jar doll): Yes, it will. You will go to the ILM offices. There you will find a team of CGI artists. They will make your Thrawn Trilogy.
Lucas (Quickly hiding the doll and acting dazed): ILM offices...CGI artists...Thrawn trilogy...
