Name says it all, would you pay a monthly fee to play any game?

For me, if the game was cool enough, and by paying it promised better support, yah, I might.

I wouldn't.... I don't want to put up with things like paying, forgetting to play, then unssuscribing then suscribing again when wanting to play.....

THe only way anyone would convince me to payper play is if it's really cheap and the game is revolutionary/reallycool/etc. But, if the whole game industry becoems like taht, I think I'll give up gaming...

I played Darkspace for 2 months (free client, 10 USD/month), got bored of it fast. It sucks ass when you buy a game, then your forced to continue to pay for it. I mean what if you want to casually play whenever, you have to pay for the full month.

Short answer: no ****ing way.

Shorter answer: **** WoW, first Blizzard game im not going to buy.

Same with me for SHattered Galaxies, except I got to play it free in the beta... I played it, got bored and would be horrified to pay a monthly fee of 10+ bucks...

Hell No

I say if it is so damn important, than just charge 60 - 75 bucks for the game, then leave us alone.

The theory is paying keeps updates coming and keeps the game fresh. Games that you shell 60 bucks for grow old quickly.

I tell you what, if it was 10 bucks a month to play FS3 online, you're damn right I would. That money would go to support, I'd hope. Companies are willing to spend more time fixing games that bring them money. Now they make a game, one or two patches, oh well you're on your own now and it's hit or miss with the game itself.

what the point? games like Pod were superbly supported after it was released, and there was no need to pay additional stuff.
I say no, never, coz that gives the best opportunity for developpers to release unfinished games.

  • What is this? I don't even...
It really depends...
On the one extreme you have paying to play online...
On the other you have the Mechwarrior 4 problem, where they make you pay for the goddamn updates... You dont have to buy them, and you can still play with people that have them, but you can get royally owned, simply because you dont have that nice Kodiak loaded with Heavy Guass, and he does...

And there are untold number of games that could have lasted a lot longer if they were supported, but the company didn't have to, so they didn't.

Everquest and Dark Age of Camelot... you had to pay for both of those

Yeah, I'd pay for a game that held my attention.

I have two characters on Everquest so far, and while it eats a lot of my spare time, it gives me something to do when the blahs and depression hits.

But if it wasn't something I gave a damn about, I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place...

$10 a month = $120 a year = 3 or 4 computer games/year.  I think that should answer the question :)

I'm going to start playing World War 2 Online as soon as I get my new computer. It costs 10$ a month, but for what I've played during the free trial, I can say it's definitely worth it.

So yay for me, of course the game has to be good :)
