I remember the first time I loaded up Freespace (and Freespace 2) 
on my WIN 95 computer. When I played the first several missions, I was awestruck and it hit me deeply like I could move mountains and seas with my will! I was crappy at first, (who wasn't!) And I remember the time I got my first kill unassisted...I really perked up until the game got harder. But I kept at it...got better and wanted more...and more. I was hooked! I wanted to leave Earth as it is and go forward hundreds of years in the future and fight for mankind! (and later for the GTVA). 

Yeah them days were good being single!
