I decreased the speed of one of the Shivan beam sounds (I think it was the LRed) and noticed that it sounds really creepy. It's a good sound effect for the LuciferBeam. Try it...

Would it be possible to use the blank entries in the sounds tbl?

my blank ones were used up long ago. :D i add any new ones to the end of the list. despite the warnings up the top, it works fine for me :)
if you just copy & paste another entry then change file name and volume settings, it *should* work. does for me.
(oh, and change the sound's number so that it continues on from the end of the game sounds part of the list. :)

I tried this same thing about a year ago with several of the beam sounds and created some pretty nice effects.

CP, friend, buddy, pal, amigo, I need a small favor. :D

As it turns out, I need to extend the sound of the "blue beam" sound effect to adapt it to the longer charge-up time for the "super Blue beam" mod used on the GTDn Archangel. If you have the vp file for DatDB, then you should have the sound files needed.

I'm not quite sure how much longer you will need to extend the blue beam charge-up sound; you may need to check the weapon table file for that.

Can you lend me a hand with this, CP? :)

Sure, I could probably do this a few minutes. The only problem at the moment is that I don't have FS2 or any sound programs installed on my dad's work laptop, which is what I am currently stuck with. (this thing is totally messed up and, in addition to being maddeningly slow, will not let me install anything  ) With any luck, I think I should get my computer back this week but I do not really know.

Oh, yeah, I forgot that your comp got busted.

Keep me posted on this; let me know when you get your comp back and can work on the sound file. We've got a deadline that won't expire for two years, so I can afford to be patient. :D

Thanks. I actually made a little bit of an error in the table entry. You need to change the fire wait to 20 or something, otherwise it'll fire a second time, while the beam is still active. I'll update the download tonight.
