[FotG Update] Winter 2026
It's been a few months since our last official forum update, so all of us at Fate of the Galaxy want to share what we have been working on this winter. A highlight list includes the following:

  • Added two new ships, the Venator courtesy of Dark Visor and the Raider Corvette courtesy of FekLeyTarg. The Venator currently has two variants, one for the Republic and one for Pirates, and finally provides a powerful ship for pirate factions to leverage in their fleets. The Raider Corvette is another great addition as it supplies a dedicated Imperial corvette-class ship which allows the Imperials to not have to rely on the CR90. Both ships are integrated into our campaigns and give mission editors many new options!
  • Added and tuned various dockpoints and paths for the troop/boarding transports of each faction, including the YT-1300, U-wing, and DX-9 (and escape pod) which we are leveraging for rescue missions where the player protects a friendly transport as it docks with a target prisoner ship. Also, the Carrack has 2 more docking points (now it supports a total of 7 docked TIEs). These two new positions ensure that 4 TIE Bombers can be docked and not have their wings overlap, and also allow the Carrack to field 40% more TIEs.
  • Added multiple new effects updates from Kestrellius. These include particle lights to all the new weapon effects which give much more dynamic light, so the effects feel much more alive and interactive with surrounding ships and objects. Another addition includes new updated thruster effects that more closely match the OT aesthetic than the previous simple thruster glows we were using. Combined these updated aspects further increase the feeling of flying in the movies.
  • Added new sun and sun-glow bitmaps from Kestrellius, which match the OT visuals far better then the old sun bitmaps we were using.
  • Added new techroom missions Force Zerek and TIE Phantom, thanks to FekLeyTarg for creating these and RB Skald for polishing! Collectively these additions help further our goal of giving players many options to enjoy.
  • Updated Y-wing engines on ships and intake front of engines on Z-95 and X-wing to have an enhanced bevel, which makes looking out of the window of the cockpit much nicer (thanks Dark Visor!).
  • Added custom sexp to allow FREDers to set the debrief music via SEXP.
  • Added new small containers courtesy of Dark Visor. Though small in stature, these have dock points and are extremely useful for mission designers in many roles, including cargo retrieval runs, connecting with troop transports, and even arranging in a block and shooting torpedoes at the stack to create some galactic bowling.
  • Updated Project Alderaan with many fixes, polish, and cleanup updates.
  • Updated and fixed many other components with cleanup, optimizations, and fixes, which are too long to list here.

Community Connections
As always, we want to highlight all the awesome work done by the FSO devs. They have continued adding code cleanup, bug fixes, and multiple other updates that FotG uses. Goober,  Lafiel, and Taylor, among others, have identified and fixed many bugs that further augments FSO’s stability.  There’s many other devs adding great fixes, features, and other enhancements for merging once stable is complete, too.

Moving Forward
We thank you all for your continued thanks for your sustained enthusiasm and support!  The biggest external blocker we have left before we can release is having FSO release 25.0 stable (which is well into RC phase).  There is a very good chance that our next quarterly update will be a release thread!  We are so excited to share the game with you all once those are completed.  In the meantime, here are some new screenshots.  May the Force be with you!
