Ok, I needed a break from fighters, so I decided to pay my final homage to an old friend. this will be the final version of the Federal Hyperion class frigate. still WIP, I did get most of the grunt done. I reworked some of the geometry, added detail and reworked the entire UV mapping and textures...tiles are thus banished!

Love it. :) Is that a new kind of mass driver under the chin? Also, I see you moved the torpedoes around. Interesting choice. Does it still have the spacesuit bay under the primary hangar?

Hyperion is the original name given to it by its author, Steve-O. The name as it is used in Blue Planet is not going to change and the two have nothing more in common that sharing the same base mesh. Turret layouts have always been different.

I already commented once, but I will do it again. The mesh is really hi-quality, but I'm comlpetely in love with this texture work. I wish I could!..

UPDATE TIME!

the turrets had to be reworked and re-textured. here we have PDTs and Massdrivers

toss in a missile battery for fun....

and top it off with plasma cannons and 1 linear mass accelerator.

It has a really gritty feel to it, I'm used to seeing gleaming metal surfaces and such. :)
