They look pretty nice, but could you put them somewhere that doesn't require an account to DL ?
People are stupid, therefore anything popular is at best suspicious.

Sooo... have you been watching the AFF guys or something? Your art reminds me lots of their style. (Semi-Homeworld-ish)

In any case, It looks majestic as heck. :P :yes:

Re: Inverse Fusion shipyards (UT's ship scrapyard)
these are extremely good
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

I worked with them a bit in the past as a modeler. I love stranj's ship design style. :D It's elegant and lifelike, yet very utilitarian and tough looking.

EDIT: I looked through my folders, I've got the carrier, and the textured fighter from the Sketchup series. I do believe I have lost all the other Sketchup models. I do have all the modo stuff though, and I can zip everything up and put it on here later. :)

@MatthTheGeek
Here's the zip for all the files hosted on the Luxology website. Please download and let me know if the .DAE's read correctly. If you do anything with the ships, please post screenshots! :D

Thanks Betrayal. I hope they inspire someone as much as other people's ships inspire me. :)

Is there any chance to get this awesome carrier? Or textured fighter? They just MUST be converted and placed ingame :D

Oh hey, it's the racing ships from that game you wanted me to help you with and I was really unprofessional/lazy and now you hate me!

Re: Inverse Fusion shipyards (UT's ship scrapyard)
This is a very good work you have here.
I love the Bulkhead, it's shape and particularly it's greebles, which doesn't look like added eye-candy, but truly as an integral part of the design.
Also, the connections between the Aurora main body and nacelles are awesome too.

This one looks like a relative of the Loki.

Actually, it doesn't, cause the front is in the right side (which is awesome, as it breaks the cockpit-in-front paradigm).

Really good work... :yes: :yes:

I don't hate you dude, relax. :D

@The Dagger;
Thanks, I didn't know that cockpit in the back was a thing! You know with things like the Bulkhead, I've started to try not to do express cockpits. My thinking is that in the future, pilots will be encased in armored shells and have their bodies directly linked to ship sensors, essentially becoming one with their vehicle.

Re: Inverse Fusion shipyards (UT's ship scrapyard)
Wow, thank you so much for taking these ships on!

I posted this over in the Star Citizen forum. I thought I'd repost it here in case it helps!

Quote
Well I was thinking that this community could use some guidance with starship design. If it would actually be used, I could write a primer on some of the functional and aesthetic considerations that are involved with designing starships for video game use.

Here are some things that are useful to consider when designing a spaceship;

Physical and functional considerations;
- Conservation of momentum
- Action/reaction
- Lever arms and moments
- Pressurization of compartments
- Mission statements and objectives
- Societal habits
- Technology levels of space-fairing species
- Manufacturing expertise (knowledge), location (in space), and ability (technology level)
- Human factors design

Aesthetic and modeling considerations;
- Thoughtful use of Y space.
- Silhouettes
- 3D sketching techniques
- 2D sketching techniques
- UV mapping/unwrapping
- Normal mapping
- Specular highlighting
- Differing materials
- Game engine efficiency

Would something like this be useful? It's a large commitment for me so I'd rather have some sort of insurance as to it's usefulness before I devote the hours required to creating it.

Try to apply your thoughts on these principles to these ships. Please don't hesitate to question! :)

Re: Inverse Fusion shipyards (UT's ship scrapyard)
Those are some lovely ship designs I gotta say; they have that blocky 'Terrans built us' look I like in ships (even the curvier ones). Will be very interested in those capital ships especially in a couple of weeks in fact.

Cheers UT, Shall be watching this space :)
