Screenshot looks fine to me. The moon and earth are just BEHIND the sun's plane in that screenshot. Don't you know, the moon is bigger than the sun, so it's that big even in the distance.

(Actually a ton of mods, and even a couple MVP missions IIRC have incorrect planet lighting in the skybox. The overall appearance is that the planets are behind the star, and incredibly, incredibly massive.)

Meh, I've thought about that issue when FREDing. The thing is, most people just use a bunch of stock planet images from around the community. It takes way more time than it's worth to make planet bitmaps for a particular mission... not to mention for every mission in a longer campaign. So meh, I let the lighting model on the planets be fudged a bit. It's just not that important.

I am actually seriously anal about it.  To the point one of my missions has a scripted in mission jump and I deliberately move the stars so the player feels like they have actually jumped across system.

I haven't played FS2:SCP in like 3 years. Fresh install with just the latest mediaVPs and ERMAGHERD!! You guys, this thing looks amazing! Post processing AND antialiasing together! FINALLY after all these years, the hull fades into the explosion instead of clipping!! I've waited for this moment since the day SCP started. GLORIOUS absolutely GLORIOUS!

Don't forget soft particles. That's probably helping with explosion hard edges more than bloom is.
