Re: What are you playing right now?
At $60?  Not unless you really want to, or know that you like the Call of Duty franchise and all the baggage that goes along with that.

In the sense that it is a game that is fun?  Yes.

Somebody stop me. I watched a Titanfall 2 commercial and now it actually looks good.

At first it was "meh it looks terrible and people have said it's crap" and then the commercial shows an SP campaign where it's you and your big ****off robot suit who's not going to lose another pilot goddammit and that sounds kind of awesome.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I'm currently alternating between soft-resetting for a Xerneas with good IVs in Pokémon X and playing Inferno Release 1.

My Rhydon is quite a tank thanks to the Evioite it's holding, and INFR1 mission scripting is quite broken when it's run on recent nightlies and difficulty is set to Very Easy.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I went back to X-wing vs Tie Fighter
This time "seriously" instead of just doing a quick furball with Tie Fighters.
I started the imperial campaign (which I remember being easier than the Rebel's) but on hard the mission literally required to stay in two places at once because the AI inbalance on hard essentially made everyone but me suicidal, but got on fine on medium, or to be more precise, I'da have got on fine if it wasn't for the game randomly freezing for reasons I still have to ascertain. *sigh*
In this campaign you already start as an elite pilot of the Avenger squadron, so your Tie Interceptor is special issue with jamming beam and flimsy shields, you first mission consists in helping the capture of various ships pulled out of hyperspace by your task force interdictor cruiser and babysit said cruiser (mission failure once it is forced to retreat).
First you start with helping capturing a few smaller crafts then a rebel transport (of the type you see fleeing Hoth) escorted by X-wings than the Airam factions crash the party and try to bring down your interdictor.
On medium is difficut but doable, you dump everything to the engines and intercept the R-41 starchaser (think a flimsy y-wing, more like a Z-95 with ion cannons really) launched by the Airam dreadnought but on hard the T-wings (discount A-wings essentially) that escort them go straight after the transports that are carrying the prisoners from the various intercepted ships, BUT if you go after them the R-41s will torpedo your interdictor, wither way the mission fails.

I'm kindof interested based on your comments, but definitely not at $60.  And Call of Duty games take FOREVER to drop to decent prices.  Hell I think CoD 4 is still $20, maybe $10 during steam sales.  You'd think that one would be going for a buck during sales by now.

Re: What are you playing right now?
It also has a refreshingly diverse cast.  Protagonist is a white male, unsurprisingly, but the main supporting character is female, admiral of the fleet is black, marine commander on your ship is black (Idris Elba :swoon:), chief engineer is female, boatswain is female, caprtain counterpart on another important ship is female, and flight group commander is female.  The helm is an Irishman, and one of the marine squaddies with a decent speaking role is Indian.

Good stuff.

No doubt!  Ive never played any of the CoD or MW games, partially because the price of admission is too high.  MW3 came out 5 years ago and is still $40 on Steam.  The original CoD4: MW is 9 years old and is still $20.  No thanks.

Re: What are you playing right now?
As a note, exactly zero knowledge of Call of Duty prior titles is required to play.  Not even a little bit.

$60?

Well, that would be like... 200PLN, which is a 3 working days salary in the place where I live. I'm not that despaired to play new CoD xD. Someday maybe...

Well, yeah, since it's exactly the same game each time.  ;)

Re: What are you playing right now?
Since last night I've been playing "Space Jet 3D", a free space online dogfighting game I picked up from the Windows store.  Pretty sure it is a mobile game, but it plays fine on my PC using an Xbox 360 controller.  It's not very deep or complex, but it is surprisingly fun for a quick fix.   Each round lasts only a few minutes.  You can purchase and upgrade new ships, and apparently more unlock as you level up.  There are in-game power-ups available, and so far it seems to be matching skill levels pretty well.  I do wish there was some sort of controller customization available, as I want to use the analog triggers to fire but I have to use a shoulder or face button.

I just found an android version, so I'll have to try that out on my phone or tablet.
Maybe someday God will give you a little pink toaster of your own.

Re: What are you playing right now?
X-wing vs Tie Fighter keeps crashing on me for some reason, never had this problem with the rebel campaign.

Mission 4 is easy even on hard for once but it keeps crashing before the main objective is complete, the first time I beat it without issues but I was pursuing optional objectives so it crashed before I could quit the mission, from then on it crashed like clockwork every time even before I beat the main objectives. :(

Dragon Commander. Yeah.

Divinity: Dragon Commander? Did they tweak the AI so you can longer glitch it into building only the most basic trooper? (if you have an adaptive AI, don't make it that obvious where the exploit is)

Re: What are you playing right now?
X-wing vs Tie Fighter: Balance of Power
The imperial campaign on medium is a bit of a pushover compared to the often infuriating rebel campaign, on hard some of the first missions are doable if not outright easy but later missions (after the first third of the campaign) get infuriating really quickly to the point I decided to dispense with trying them first on hard.
While you start as already an elite pilot in a squadron of specially modified Tie Interceptors (they have beam weapons and a flimsy but surprisingly useful deflector shield) getting Tie Advanced and Assault Gunboats after a particularly tense ship transfer is a blessing, and probably part of the reason the campaign is much easier than the Rebel conterpart.
The most difficult part were random crashes that plagued the campaign for some reason, they seemed to have stopped once I added the game executable to the exceptions in Microsoft Security Essentials however.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I'm playing Strike Suit Zero, which people here probably know about. The core mechanic of switching between Freelancer-style and Descent-style modes works very well. The missions are pretty diverse and have amazing backdrops, but the story is confusing and many ingame events lack any real context. The game difficulty spikes up at times (it's essential to switch between the modes frequently and master each one's strengths) and it lacks proper targeting controls or squad commands like FS. It's pretty short too, but overall I like it a lot.
