One of my favorite things to do when playing Mech3 online was to turn down challenges.  My reason?  IT'S A GAME!!!!!!  I play for enjoyment, which means i don't play with people i don't like.  The Challenges made in tournament or league were one thing, but the flat out grudge matches were just stupid.

The one time i did accept the challenge I stipulated that a witness be in there as well. as soon as we launched i told my oponent to have fun, i was going out for pizza, and left.  When i returned, the room was still talking about how foolish he looked in there calling me names thinking i was still there.  

but really, no matter who would have won, what would it have proven?  That one of us was better at a game?  I'm sorry but that's little comfort compared to actually training in an art so that you may better defend your family if needs be.  Maybe i have a smidge of Hotshot attitude in RL, maybe I am just confident because of what i train to do.  All I know is, i may get beaten in a game, but God help the man who tries to hurt my children.

Ummm basically that's like us saying you're Italian simply because you are on the same land mass.
Frankly I don't help things because I live in a country where you get a choice to be Irish or British.

Anyhow I don't really like hotshots on the whole, you should meet my friend Paul, he's a naturally gifted gamesplayer and he's particularly modest about the whole affair. He beats me on almost all games but we still have a great time playing. I suppose there are those that play to get the 'Alpha male' vibe of dominance over another player but that's probably due to a feeling of insecurity somewhere else.

They're games, they are supposed to be fun IMHO.
