In short, PCs do massively multiplayer/more then 4 player better and have better games in every genre bar beat em ups.

HOWEVER

The PC has NOTHING on Consoles when it comes to "right lads back from the pub with me kebab and well pissed on 10 pints of stella....... whose for some Halo/super monkey ball/doax volleyball" etc. il call this the "mate factor" they are simply more fun but to have this "mate factor" you need to have mates! Therin lies the problem.

Actually, this is a very astute obervation. Let us refer to it as the 'Mario Party factor'.

I've barely played my consoles this year. Last year, in the student halls, we played Mario Golf, Mario Kart, F-Zero and all the rest almost constantly. The three guys I live with this year have a passing interest in consoles (well, except one guy with the misfortune of owning a playstation), and as a result I fire up the N64 perhaps twice a month for a few quick laps around Mute City.

You know, I had to flog my Cube the other day. Pained me something rotten, but I'd barely played it (I had Luig's Mansion, Rogue Leader and Resi) and I need instant cash. Thing was I really wanted Zelda and Metroid... bah

Zelda is an action adventure, Fallout is an RPG.

can't think of any decent PC racers atm, not exacly a big fan of the genre.

as for platformers..... the best i can think of right now is soul reaver 2

oh wait, there is Duke nukem: manhattan project, that's a true platformer as marioworld could be best described as a '3d action-adventure'...

as for the console vs PC on FPS's well, it really depends of the control scheme, and i NEVER had halo slow down on me, that was during the most intense battles towards the end of the game (no other details than that, may piss of those who are awaiting Halo pc)

I sometimes play a few games on my Sega Saturn or NES. I find most of these console games harder to finish then PC games. I am thinkign of buying a Game Cube pack with Metroid Prime game with it. And Resident Evil, that game looks damn good on the Game Cube and is more fun then on the playstation.

barely, you have so much better FPS than halo on PC... ( and old ones, like renegade or RTCW, I don't even talk about upcoming stuff like doom3 - No, I won't talk about Duke3D forever ... )

true.... personally i hate the dual shock controller yet i can kick my father's arse in MOH multi on the playstation and he's a seasoned veteran.. wierd huh? mind you, there's nothing funnier than sneaking up on somebody in halo multi and hitting them over the head with a rocket launcher

oh yeah i forgot.. in halo CTF you can use the flag as a melee weapon as well as the 'ball' in oddball (it's a skull)

Metropolis street racer: Racing game
Shenmue 1/2: defies categorisation - nothing like it on PC that I'm aware of
Yoshi's island: Platormer

I could think of a whole bunch more but these are the ones I've played most and have yet to find anything on PC that isn't simply a clone or poor copy.
