Back in WWI Canadian troops earned the title "storm trooper" by the German opposition for the damage that the of the Canadian army inflicted at that time.  Canadian 412 squadron in WWII were the ones responsible for taking out Rommel and removing him from the war effort (he was later implicated in a plot to kill Hilter and killed).  It was also a huge Canadian effort on the beaches of Dieppe....

Things have changed no doubt but Canadians have done some ass kicking in their time...

Just so you know :D (we get left out of alot of history books)

Most likely due to the fun of ethnocentrism. Some cool thing happen to some other country? Either ignore it, steal it for yourself, or make it look bad!

I think Canada has a bit of an inferiorty complex, cause I heard the "Canadians are tough as nails, here's how:" line in school so often. Sure, militarily Canada sucks. But it has a whole other list of virtues that mroe than make up for it.

Never "got" hockey myself. I guess its one of those things you get to love when you're 6 years old and you play in a hockey league, or you play  pick-up game with your friends. My game is football, no heavy equipment to lug around.

You know, I remember a propaganda video the US made in the last few years to convince the Canadians to join the war on terror: they videoed a group secrectly crossing the Canadian Border and tipping over trash cans at night in a neigbourhood and escaping back over the border.

Bloody brilliant is what it is. Probably the best spectator sport on the Planet. It's a lot more athletic than rugby, though the two have some minor similarities. Dunno where Phreak got soccer from though... unless he meant Gaelic football, which it is kinda similar to.

[color=66ff00]So similar in fact that they've created 'international rules', Ireland and Oz play each other quite frequently now.

AFL? Absabloodylutely. Even in the Rugby heartlands of Queensland and New South Wales, the AFL teams have followings. Outside of those states (and possibly Tassie - I'd assume being so close to melbourne they're big AFLiers, but never having been there I'm not 100% Turnsky?), AFL is pretty much the Australian winter sport. It's massive, but in a different way to the way Soccer is percieved in Europe. I read an article not long ago that really demonstrated this... I'll see if I can find it.

I like when people use HUGE chars. Not only it makes you look more confident, it is easier to read. :)
