The game has a Defender?! Damn... I hope it's only used in a few situations...

No E-Wing, V-Wing or some other new NR fighter? Pretty unbalanced

The defender only pops up once or twice at the end of a mission, to make sure that you really jump out when you are supposed to.

Anyway, I eat those T/Ds for lunch in my Y-Wing, ... mostly, ... often, ... sometimes, ... OKAY, I'M A CRAPPY PILOT!!!
Good that XWA ai is even worse.

Don't know why they went beyond the TIE Advanced, the T/D just doesn't look that threatening with the third solar panel.

Interesting, the TIE Interceptor is manueverable enough to take on the TIE Defender. No ion cannons or shields, but if I can keep it off my tail I can win the fight, even when the AI is turned up pretty high.

XWA AI is crap. I made a mission where you have to fight one on one in a Y-Wing against a Jedi class T/D. I blast it to hell regulary.

Alright, howabout a short version.

XWA-
Good:Virtual cockpit, big battles, better flight model(turn rate is proportional to speed) and personalized story.
Bad:Lack of weapon/loadout options, too few ships, more bugs, personalized story(I like the impersonal better.  )

Well what all ships do you want? Personally I don't care much for the Star Wars games that toss in ships noone's ever heard of before,..being the concept of the game is set in all the movies.

And as far as weapons load outs, remember the Star Wars universe has what,..2 primaries,..A lasers.  B Ions. And you're able to select different secondaries.

Still my favorite fighter was

A: normal game  X Wing
B: mod game  Naboo

Used to be funny when me and DA set up a game saying Naboo vs Trade Fed Driods and half the gaming community showed up lol

Tie defender rocks, I was just crazy when it showed up in Tie Fighter (damn what a old game). But I take more pleasure to flight the T interceptor or the A-wing (just like the walkyrie is my favourite FS ship to fly with- who says I'm a fool?   )

I'm not saying XWA should have more ships...I agree that it would hurt the immersion because it is based on a movie series. However, more ships IS more fun, so there is a trade-off that XWA does make. It has to.
I guess I'm criticizing the universe more than the game...it isn't as designed for space combat as FS.   Don't get me wrong, XWA is an awesome game, but for different reasons. I just wish it were more possible to combine the best traits of both without creating a whole new game...gimme some source code!

[EDIT]
Oh yeah... favorite Star Wars fighter is the AWing. Light and fast, baby!

In my opinion, the A-Wing is crap. Almost no shields, paper-thin hull, low primary armament. Speed is useless cause dogfight speed is determined by the slowest, not the fastest ship, and the maneuvrability is wonderful, in theory, but in reality the TIE Bomber is a better dogfighter because it has a better speed/ maximum maneuvrability ratio.

It is a useable interceptor cause of it's high missile armament, but even there the T/I is better with it's four lasers.

You're wrong there. The TIE Bomber is worst than the Y-Wing because it doesn't have shields. 2 quad bursts from an X-Wing and its toast.

Besides, X-Wing is the choice of fighter for Rogue Squadron.

You can outmaneuver EVERY ship in XWA with a TIE Bomber. That's a mathematical FACT. It has the smallest turn radius of all XWA ships. Turn radius is determined by maneuvrability and speed, the faster a ship is, the higher is it's turn radius and the higher the maneuvrability, the lower the turn radius. The TIE Bomber has the best speed/ maneuvrability ratio.
