Site looks good. I really haven't been visiting Freespace sites.

Have you guys thought about expanding to X-Wing Alliance as well, and grabbing the tons of models out there for it? It's really been modded like crazy.

Thanks for the kudos. I'll try to get a link thrown up tonight. Have some news commentaries about some things I read about today. Too bad I can't update the site from work.

X-Wing Alliance just seemed like such a natural choice, especially after seeing someone made the Battlestar Galactica and imported Wing Commander models. Not to mention the outrageously HUGE battles you can have.

Uhoh...don't make me write a long post comparing XWA and FS. It would get messy...

Alright, howabout a short version.

XWA-
Good:Virtual cockpit, big battles, better flight model(turn rate is proportional to speed) and personalized story.
Bad:Lack of weapon/loadout options, too few ships, more bugs, personalized story(I like the impersonal better. )

FS2
Good: Beautiful graphics, best sound, rock-solid game, better capships, storyline is very involved, lots of ships and weapons to fight with and against.
Bad: Ships fly too slow(See my sig  ), can't have as big of battles, very basic cockpit, simplistic flight model.

Alright...that satisfies my review/critic urge.

I see your point, theres lots going for both games, but the XWA engine can have larger battles and more detailed ships. I'd like to make use of that if possible to make more detailed versions of the FS ships...

There's actually a very simple mod that allows you to fly every ship in the game, even cap ships! (Not that flying a Star Destroyer is much fun)

Too few ships?

In the instant action and multi-player modes you can fly the following:

X-Wing
Y-Wing
B-Wing
A-Wing
Z-95 Headhunter
TIE Fighter
TIE Bomber
TIE Interceptor
TIE Advanced
TIE Defender
Assault Gunboat
Missile Boat
YT-1300
YT-2000
Millienium Falcon

Overall, I like Freespace 2 better, just wanted to point that out. X-Wing Alliance can do a little more performance-wise though because the graphics are simpler and allow for more actual objects on screen. It's a trade-off.

What too you so long to buy it?! It was out last year!!!

My favourite fighter iin the whole game is still the X-Wing. Faster than the piggish Y-Wing and more powerful in terms of firepower than the quick and swift A-Wing which has only two laser cannons.

X-Wing:
4 Laser Cannons
2 Proton Torpedo Launchers. 4 torpedos each.

I love it!!

What about the B-Wing? Not as sluggish as the Y-Wing and with lots more in terms of weapons...
