Yeah, it's called "I don't wanna see you're fat ass when I'm trying to enjoy myself at the beach". That's trite, but mostly true. But it does go deeper than that. Most of America, whether they will admit it or not, are decended in one form or another from religious groups like the Puritans, Shakers, and others who held very strict views on when and where sexuality could be allowed and where it couldn't be allowed. To them, nudity == sexuality, thus the nudity taboo's. It's makes sense when you think about it, when you're doing something and a scantily clad girl walks by can you focus on what you're doing? Or are at the very least distracted or thinking of what perverse way you're going to have you're way with her?
On topic, I think a letter of reprimand would have been sufficient. She was off duty and, unless she was engaged in some kind of hanky-panky, not doing anything that required that level of punishment. Also, the article was unclear in my reading(though I only skimmed it to get the gist), but was she naked or was she caked in enough mud so that her skivvies were "transparent"?
Depends how important the thing I'm trying to do is.

Chances are, it's not that vital that I can't take a few moments to appreciate one of the most beautiful things on the planet. That's not a lecherous thing, either - the human body is beautiful in it's own right (apart from grossly fat ones obviously

) I don't need to associate certain sticky activities with it to find it appealing. Obviously I don't want to be bombarded with images of naked people all the time, but I think it shouldn't be something that people are "protected" from.
But seriously, America is supposedly all about freedom - and yet people aren't allowed to play about in the mud, by their own choice, on their own time? Someone's using double standards there. I mean, if this woman had been running down the street flashing herself at old ladies, I could understand that she'd get a punishment for indecent exposure or whatever, given that said old ladies took offence at the display. But when the woman's at a party, which is (presumably) not taking place where anyone can see, she should be allowed to do what she wants (within reason of course). I mean, if she suddenly took half her clothes off, and everyone else went "Gaaah! What are you doing!? Yuck! Put them away!!" she'd soon cover up. But as she wasn't the only one, and other people joined in, then where's the problem? If I choose to walk around my house starkers, then who has the right to say I can't? If I frollicked naked around my front garden, then chances are I'd offend someone, and I'd get a visit from the Plod, but in private I should be allowed to do so if I want (and if everyone else in the house is ok about it obviously).
Aaaanyway, I think you can see my view. But yeah, as long as the puritan types Lib mentioned are around, there'll be daft things like this happening....
