A ST wannabe ship, a tank, and a fish. Interesting fleet this is... What's the spiky one in the background?

Nevertheless they're pretty cool. I especially like the Modified Ursa bomber, a vast improvement over the original.

Some of you guys are rude... those are some pretty nice looking ships there that deserve compliments! Although, true, the top one looks to be an overdose of polys...

I never said I didn't like 'em, I waxs just commenting on the variety. I really do like bottom right one, and I think I would like the bottom lef one alot, too if I could see it throught all the wireframes. The top one's pretty cool, but the huge cannon on it really doesn't work.

Hey Stryke 9, if you want to see what they are like then check out my thread about models on the GTD Wolf forum.

The fighter at the top was designed to be the first modular fighter. Right now it has a beam weapon pod on it, it could also have an extra engine pod for reconnisance missions or a missile/bomb bay for bombing missions.

Cool. I always thought fighter beam cannons were a good idea, and I really can see this thing swooping in at a capship firing BC now...

Ahh, but it can't be truly modular now can it.  Given the way FS works.

No, but you could duplicate the effect relatively easily. Just make the base model, and have a number of different versions available. Beam ver, high speed ver, heavy bomb ver, etc.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

yeah, but you can't change during mission... imagine if it was possible to dock/undock with the modules, that would be neat

The only way I can think of doing it in-mission is to give it zero ammo in the loadout and allow it to rearm at a specific point in game.

Anyways it was supposed to be one seperate model for each type, I hadn't really intended it to change mid mission. It was just a concept I didn't think anyone else had taken advantage of.

There was the same concept for a capship discussed some months ago, but I don't remeber how it turned.

The ship in the back is the SD Cernunnos (rendered in Modelview, then edited in Irfanview), and clockwise from top is the GTXF Morrigan, the GTMf [insert name here] (modified from the Ursa model, 200m long mounting anticap torpedo launchers), and the GTXD Mars (all rendered in 3DSMax, edited in Irfanview). The reason the Morrigan looks like it has a poly overload and the GTMf looks so cool is I just got 3DSMax and I was experimenting with the smooth feature.
