I remember my fs2 original box i got in 2000. It came with the 3 cd cardboard thingy. Bought fs1 and the silent threat pack which came with a cardboard cd thingy. And then i lost my original copy of fs2 and bought fs2 game of the year edition which still came with the cd cardboard thingy I was cursed, but back in the day i played with a voodoo3 3000 16mb, best graphics card of the era, i didn't much care for 32bit. But, i had to turn the game down to medium quality because the 2d capship shockwaves would always give me a slow down i had a celeron 433 clocked to 533 with 128mb of sdram with a bigfoot 12gb hard drive that fit inside of one of my cd bays That was one sweet computer for it's day. And **** nvidia for killing the 3dfx competition, nvidia did something like buy the 3dfx company. Seriously, horrible demise for 3dfx, the voodoo5's were really awesome, and they're demise got rid of some really good competition in the graphics market. Now it's just the big 2, nvidia and ati, there were some chips from sis and s3. There was the kyro chips. But ultimately today it's still the big two, which pisses me off, because their's not as much variety anymore. Hell even diamondmm use to make they're own cards, now they make cards for ati. Uuugh, the graphics market use to be more diverse, now it's radeon this, geforce my mom

nvidia incorporated some of 3dfx's ideas in its own designs tho, which cant be said of ati

Well still, i don't think nvidia is any better today because of the 3dfx buy. I mean they're cards afterwards were not so totally radically different afterwards as if to be some kind of new incarnation of graphics or hybrid of a geforce and a voodoo. Nvidia just sort of kept pumping out the regular stuff. And obviously ati just sort of cruised they're own road to. The 3dfx buy seems like a waist in the fashion that it happened and what was done with it. Now if nvidia tried a hybrid card of nvidia tech and 3dfx tech, getting the best of the both companies technologies in one card. There you go, you'd have something really awesome to use. But no, nvidia's like we'll use a couple of ideas. Box art, i like the little mini pc game boxes a lot better than the huge ones. If only fs2 came in one of those, that'd be sweet. But anyway, my full sized box and everything for fs2 excluding the cd's is still mint condition, that surprised the **** out of me, i thought i was throwing that box across the room years ago

I really like the idea of everyone posting a picture of thier copy of Freespace for some reason.

Here's my FS2, original box, with the manual, reference card and even the registration card. (Plus recipet incase I ever need to go back in time and return it.) Heee!



It's one of about three old boxes I havn't thown away. I was forced to do away with tons and tons of them when we moved, but there was no way I could part with my darling FS2.

Also, what's up with that white version of the FS2 box? It looks so messed up... =/

Speaking of FS2 3CD Jewel case... I have one, too. But mine was made from cutting the old cardboard box one and putting the front and back pages into a 3cd jewel case that I had laying about.
