LOL Oddly enough, I was having a discussion about this the other day. We were talking about how Nightclubs have killed music. Back in the sixties/seventies, just as many, if not more drugs were being taken, but because nightclubs were different things then, usually with a live band all most people could do whilst high was sit around, play guitar and write meaningful lyrics about the meaning of life and death etc, so some really deep, meaningful tracks came out around then (including KOHD). However, the invention of the Nightclub, basically gave people the opportunity to dance all their creative energy off, and the music matches that, it merely supplies a beat for people to move their feet to, the content is no longer relevant for most pop music, as long as it goes at 120bpm and is in A minor scale so it can be mixed easily.
Also, the creation of the 'Disco' in the seventies meant that all these live bands that were being created to play in Pubs, Bars etc were no longer needed.
