Seconded. :)

It'll increase the model/texture workload, but it's not too much of a hassle. :D

BTW, full marks for the avatar! Now we just have to beg some of the admins! :D

Incidentally, could I too have those images Alan?

Features :
>> Shield mesh that floats prolly a little far from the ship, but I can make a new one.
>> Wings are flat, like in the comic and other places. (:D)
>> Low poly mesh.  This is just a quick raster, but I wouldn't mind detailing it after it's considered good enough here.
Just one or two problems :
>> I don't know if the light for the burner's "center" stayed.
>> I need to fix the normals on some of the polygons.  Weird, eh?
Todo :
>> Firing points
>> Docking points
>> Eye point (I can't see!)
>> Better textures ( ;) )
>> Other things I prolly forgot.

...It's a start!

And I like that avatar, although I myself would prefer brushed metal for the strips, or something.  Still, can't have everything in life. ;)

Here's my own take on the Arwing. It's untextured, because I'm hopeless at that stuff.

It's not a 'canon' Arwing as I've taken some liberties here and there. It's a hybrid of the new one and the Starfox64 one, with a couple of my own ideas thrown in for good measure. I thought it looked good - nice and sleek - but you lot may violently disagree! :D

It works in-game, but as I said, it needs textures.

KF, I like your model, except for how the diamondy parts look from the side. The G-diffusers or whatever - they look like crap from that angle.
No reason I can't start scanning today, although I might just have to insist that I get a copy of that model when you're finished, Atalhlla. ;)

If you unwrap it, I could create the textures.

Which one?

1: 2: 3: 4: 5: 6:
7: 8:

I like nr. 7.

Here's an example:

What exactly do you need, and where? I could try just uploading them to the geocities account and displaying them here, or I can send them to your e-mails, or I can upload them elsewhere. Preferences? What kind of resolutions are you looking for?

Oh, and note that most of the 'rear' pictures I have of the model are in fact 'behind and above' pics. I'm sure you'll see what I mean if you look at the side view.

EDIT: you'll like this one. It shows the connections for the wings and pylons.
Here.

Alan : That right there is a wonderfull picture.  I believe we'll be wanting pictures that show the model from side and top (although that one already did, so I guess that's covered. :D ), and pictures with details on things such as hull texture, joints, et cetera.  Magni gratia!

Ooh, just looked at that second one.  Really nice detail on the g-diffuser, hinge, and... Stuff.  Nice picture.  I noticed, though, that there's a foreward flap in the comic on the front of the wing that isn't in these pictures... What do we do about that?

Dabrain : Uh, wow.  Hmm, I guess I really like both 7 and 8.  Nice avatars, at any rate!

KF: I like your model, but I don't. I think that it is very much like the old, old, old SF model from the SNES. It looks to me to be very polygonal and less smooth like the 64 one. However, it could look a lot different with textures. It's not that I don't like it, but maybe you take crappy screenshots :D

Well that flap is a bit of a problem. I look at it this way: The model doesn't have them, nor does the low poly mesh, or the early comics. However, the blueprints and the later comics have them, as does the high poly mesh. Check out that early 3D clipping!

Oh, and I have a pretty damned accurate replica of the low-poly ingame mesh sitting around here somewhere if someone wants it, just for kicks.

And one more thing: don't miss the little flap that runs the length of the main hull on both sides, leading up to and curving slightly into the wings. That's on pretty much all the representations, including the high-poly ingame mesh, but I've found that it's easy to miss.

Does anyone know anything about this sort of thing with PCS? http://www.boomspeed.com/atalhlla/arwing0.blarg.jpg

I've tried converting with PCS, ModelView, COB2FS2, but there always seems to be backwards polys..

Plus, if there's already been discussions on this, I'd like to know.

[EDIT]
Okay, I'm thinking that this may have to do with the model itself,  Is there some way to fix this sort of thing in TS3?  Maybe it's the normals being flipped?

I don't know anything about PCS :(

But I found a blueprint of the StarFox64 Arwing.

The nose is a bit too short, I think.

The nose is a bit stubby, yes.

Just for the record, I can't stand the SNES Arwing design.....looks too flimsy IMHO.

And yes, I do take crappy screenshots.

We think alike Killfrenzy. ^_^ I really don't care if this turns out into a full fledged mod.. I just wanted to see someone crank out a really high poly arwing which resembles the one that's going to be in SF2.
I'll think of a siggie later..

That's what I was trying to do, but I wanted to get a basic design down first. I like the sleekness of the SF2 Arwing coupled with some of the features from the SF64 Arwing, which is what I put together. I think it works, but there are those that disagree.

I have completed the music convertion and specified where they are gonna be played... I hope ogg files will be supported soon, because as it is now, the music takes up over 400 MB ...

Also I started working on a mainhall interface ;)

And don't foget this question:

Holy ****, Da Brain; you've actually done all that already? I applaud you because we've already got a good bit of work done and now it really seems like this project is going.

Anyway, of course the SNES arwing is a piece of cow dung but I didn't say yours was so much like it. At first glance, your crappy shots just give me that impression :D We'll see what happens with it. Those blueprints of the 64 one are lovely.

Do you guys want me to come up with some story soon? Or should I wait until I've got all the pieces to put together something? Story usually comes last, does it not? Just tell me what to do; I feed off of being ordered around :p

(Don't get any ideas KT :doubt: )

Uhm, story... Andross (re)appears and he wants to rule the Lylat system ;)

To be honest, StarFox never had a good story... so even a crap story will be enough.
Come on, animals flying around in spaceships ;7

StarFox was popular because it was fun to play.

Btw the mainhall is pretty diffcult. It needs some table changes. And I don't know what to change.

But a good story wouldn't go amiss - I mean, we need a reasonably good excuse to dump Fox and Co. into the thick of it! :D
