Make the sail a nonfunctional turret. You could use set-subsystem-strength to "hide" the turret. (But only once per mission as is. Looks like this might be a good transforming ship candidate.)

A fellow BT fan, yippee! Raven, did you manage to get a copy of the "FedCom Civil war" supplement by any chance? And did you read the "Endgame" BT novel?

Man, Raven, one of my own staffers, doesn't bother to tell me that he's a BT fan...sneaky, sneaky...;) :D

Oh, Raven, what do you think of the new BattleTech: dark Ages? I think there's a reason it's been disparagingly nick-named as "MageTech"...

that new BT: Dark Ages looks like crap IMHO, I greatly prefer the stuff on the hexes without all that stuff about turning the little dials this way and that. I like my record sheets damn it!!!

The only books I got to read until now were the Mercenary Star and Decision at Thunder Rift from the Gray Death's Saga...

But, I've browsed through a site that you may find interesting :)

Go here, and you won't be disapointed :)

Wow, never thought that  we have so many BT fans here.
For the Click-Tech Battel-Tech...
I don't like it...it has one or two good things, the movemend change is intresting and the Mechs are bigger and scaled in the right way.
But it has to many disadvanteges....so I don't like it.
The biggest one in my eyes is the way the sell it, I don't want to buy anything I don't know whats inside!
So I think MW:DA looses much of the felxibility of the old Battle Tech.

About the Mod, Yah I would like to fly the Operation Snake. Getting deep into Clan Space and fighting with the AC20, LRM/SRM and all the other cool stuff.
Since I am more Claner then Spehroid I would fly on the Clan side ^__^

Beside that I love the Highlander and the Blood Asp.
The Marodeur is out of the I like I like not discussion, because handling is bad, but it looks so damn good.

Anyone here into Virtual World Battletech? Aside from the MechWarrior PC games, that's about all the Battletech I do. (And I don't do VW Battletech very often.) Wouldn't have the money for the wargame models or the patience to paint them.

You don't get it, unless you have lots and lots of money. You get in it and get into it. :) Imagine playing Battletech from inside a mech's cockpit. Against human opponents. That's basically what Virtual World Battletech is.

Mmmmm. I loved playing that at Virtual World in San Diego when I was stationed there.

I'd make sure the game was set up to use full heat rules and then get in there with my navy buddies, and rock out. Thor v6 (the "Can Opener") all the way. :)

I miss those days.

Wow, they sure prettied that up. Did they fix the armor system and make the game understand limb loss? Back when I played the front and back armor on the torso came from the same pool, so if you had a point man in a fast mech scorching a targets face, you could run a canopener in on his rear flank and pop him like bubble.  They also completely failed to handle limb loss, so if a mech lost a leg, it would run around without it. The game would treat the mech as if it had both, but only show one. It was really fruity.

Haven't played very advanced games (since I've only played a handfull of times with up to a year between them) so I don't know about the armor system or how the game handles arms. I do know that it handles the loss of legs better then the old one. (Sounds like you played version 3.) I've been gimped and have gimped someone else before. There is a self destruct button you can hit if you are disabled, though I've never used it. With the version 4 system (which I assume they're still using, haven't checked the site lately) you can actually do things like remap the fire buttons to different weapons, have working MFDs, and in advanced mode may actually have to worry about adjusting the power systems to compensate for damaged/destroyed reactors to make sure what you need power to has power. (Never did that advanced a mission though.) I haven't played in a while partly because the site I normally go to is in another state. My favorite mechs are the Madcat and Maddog. (Vulture)

FYI, they also dropped the old Virtual Geographic League stuff.

To bad that we got no BT Sims around here, or does anyone know if there are some in Germany.
I would like to play in one of these Simulators...
