You don't want to see my favorite avatar. No, really, you don't. Don't PM me asking for it because you'll wish you hadn't.

Because you will want to gouge your eyes out and eradicate it from your memory. But you can't. You can never forget the manifistation of Hell itself, there on your computer. The evil pours from the screen into your soul, permeating your very existence and driving you mad, yet with perfect clarity showing you all that is unholy in Heavan and Earth. The most wretched string of vile adjectives could not even hint at the horror of this avatar.

Well, as the title says, the best looking avatar (purely graphically of course, the quality of the campaign means nothing).

My first vote goes to TPS - they don't have a forum, and I think they're dead, but they have a hell sweet avatar.

Second place would have to go to the Port - it's simple but effective.

For some reference material check out this thread

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,6404.0.html

but if anyone bumps it, I'll attack them with a dull knife. Unfortunately, a lot of the cooler ones are no longer hosted :(

uh... I get this mesage from the link:

I usually get this when I get banned from a board or something...

I would like to put my avatar in my prof:

but meh.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Er, admins can I ask a question? No? well I'm asking anyway :p

Righty, for the first time in ages I was changing my profile options and came across the little box where you can enter a custom title. Now, I've heard about people's avatars vanishing if they screw with this. Wots the deal? Can I put a little ditty in?

No you can't, the way we add in the project avatars is by adding HTML code after the custom titles (a break, then the images). By entering your own title you void that HTML and loose all your avatars and any custom title you had before. Because it's un-necessary effort we just ask people not to mess with it so we don't keep having to repair lost avatars and so on. Also IIRC any custom titles are given out by the admins, not the users - to avoid 400 people PMing all wanting to change their custom text every two days.
