I suppose you have watched it only once. If you have watched it a lot of times, you would have seen how great the saber duels were. Compare them to the Ep 6 and Ep 5 duels. 5 seconds of fighting and then a conversation that lasts 10-15 seconds. It's baby fight. Moves suck big time. I mean in Ep 5 Vader was open on so many ocasion that Luke could have just stabed him with  a saber with ease. Mind you that stabs are extremely hard to block especially if we take in concideration that Vader was half machine. In Episode 1, Obi wan Kenobi cuted the droids head and backstabed him. That's the artistic death blow. Very elegant and powerfull move. Darth-Maul fights Qui Gon while kicking Kenobi in the face causing him to almost fall to death. Did you see the slash down hack that Obi wan performed in the melting pit room after he cuted Mauls saber in half. How about Maul's moves and saber fighting. Fast and powerfull. That's the art! Those are pro moves never seen in the original trilogy. In Episode 1 Obi an fights more like Luke in episode 6 which sucked and I was disapointed. The only moves I liked was when he cuted that giant spider creature, spined the saber and then wham! Down stab! And of course that cool spin-binding laser deflection scene that lasted for 3 seconds. It was also in OBi Wan trailer. Anyway, Episode 1 owns.

Razor, you have to realize there were some technical limitations when ep 4, 5 and 6 were made. If they remade them now (and used the original scripts/characters and execution) then it would be a lot better in many ways. Personally I don't think Lucas should do 1,2 and 3 (he's wrecking the movie series, I mean... what kind of lunatic would put in-jokes to ep. 4 in ep. 2?) but remake 4, 5 and 6...

I wonder if carrie, harrison and mark are young enough

[EDIT] I felt that the style of fighting in EpII helps to reconcile the duels in EpI with 4,5 and 6. Discuss.

eh... Episode 2 introduced the concept of a jedi battle.. in all other movies... the jedi were either dead... or sat on their ass in a "council". However, the jedi where the only thing that was better over the original trilogy... i mean... ships in that era where just poor... nothing can beat a star destroyer!!! ... except maybe a death star... but nothing can beat a death star!!!... except maybe a small fighter... well uh... nevermind

If anything , X-Wing Alliance has taught us that 3 X-Wings and a well placed Nebulon B Frigate can take down any ISD/STD ( I still remember the original Abbreviation from X-Wing )

Canon wise though, the rebs weren't supposed to have any ships untill the higher Calamari Cruisers that could directly challenge a ISD toe to toe. That was the whole basis behind the "Insignificant Rebellion."

And of course they have to use the force during LS fight. remember the end of Ep2, where Anakin cuts out the power line and lights go off...

He didn't absorb it. His armor is just too strong to substain blaster fire. Only the saber could have dammaged Vader. By the way, speaking of Star Wars and all, does anyone here ever play JK2 on-line and on which servers?

I was talking about that creature that attacked Obi Wan in execution arena on Geonosis in Episode 2. I don't know the exact name but it looked kinda like a spider.

After reading the New Jedi Order series, I think the writers decided to give Luke Skywalker better fighting lightsaber skills which are similar to the prequels than in Episodes 4 to 6. Well, after reading and imagining how the writers describe them fighting.

I also got a better understanding of how a Jedi feels and fights with the Force. They fight with lightsabers witht he Force. All a long, I thought they fought just like that. It was after reading the New Jedi Order then I realised that the Jedi use the Force to guide their movements to block incoming slashes and jabs and also to somusault into the air and roll here and there.

In the New Jedi Order book, Traitor, Jacen uses Force Lightning to hurt Vergere but it causes his hand to hurt. Apparently, the lightning burnt his hand. Why did that happen to him when others before him like Jaina, the Emperor and even Count Dooku never suffered this?

By the way, the "spider thing" that attacked Obi-Wan Kenobi in the arena is called an acklay .

I think it was because he didn't consciously use it. The way it was written the force lightning was more of an outburst in anger and hatred,...

Of course they use the force in duels. If you played Jedi Outcast, you would have noticed that Kyle didn't do any acrobatics untill he reconected to the force. By the way, the force powers that are related to saber fighting are force offence and force deffence. If you don't have these, you can't use the saber properly. By the way, lightning sucks. on JO servers, noobs usually use lightning thinking: Look at me! When I grow up I am gonna be like (that whore) Desann. But they are easy to kill since they suck. They will never learn. LIGHT SIDE OWNS!

Yeah, they would have to have used the force to saberfight.. Isn't that what set apart norms fighting with sabers and not? It was physically dangerous to figtht with the force if you couldn't control your saber.

Part of that theory was the Lightsabers only have weight in the hilt. It's not impossible....just really improbable for a non-forceuser to correctly and safely use the weapon. (Not being able to judge the position of the blade while in motion)

It is true. The blade is just hot energy. If you swing it very very hard you could make a such powerfull spin you might even cut your self in half. I mean, that weapon owns. Wish it could be made.
