Hehe, I've made a life size earth for FS2: 12753 km in diameter.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

A Culture OU is smaller than a Deimos and could destroy entire star systems worth of ships.

Why make them bigger when you can make them better?

i once made a death star i cant remember the exact size but at 32million kilomoters from it it still filled the entire screen whne looking at it so i'm going to go out ona  limb here and say it was the biggest thing ever created and put into freespace

a culture whatever would suck in any game:

Quick question:
Is a culture ship made out of degenerate matter? (i.e. crushed electron shell arrangements or similar lack of molecular bonds)

If not, then a single blast from a cannon using positrons would rip it to pieces...

Then again, a good old anti-matter REM missile from I-War 2

Edit: Unlike regular anti-matter which an EM screen such as the all famous generic "shields" can contain, a positron stream is a wavicle and so would penetrate any energy screening

Unknown.  Besides, they have shielding.  Very strong shielding.  As a comparison, GCUs (General Contact Unit, the Culture equivalent of a Faustus/civilian liner) visit supernovae on tourist excursions.  About the only natural event that can harm a Culture ship is running into a black hole.  Positrons (or other antimatter) would be just another particle beam, deflected by the shielding.

And of course, you have to hit the ship.

Edit: Oh, and positrons are still particles with mass, plus they have charge.  You could erect a magnetic field and deflect the positrons.

Quick correction: They do effect degenerate matter, but the effectiveness is limited since it simply is the annihilation reaction with the electrons.

They do have charge, but like photons and electrons, positrons are wavicles they move at the speed of light and have no mass of importance. Quantum tunneling effects occur at those speeds, and a magnetic containment field cannot fully dissipate due to Heisenburg's little rule.

Even if a handful of positrons penetrate, the Loose Cannon is gonna be in a world of hurt

The trick is the speed of the Culture ship, so if you have the specs on that... well heh

Edit: From what Shrike has said, Culture shields seem to be gravity based, so I'll go hide in my General Products #2 hull for the time being

Did I make a mistake and log into a 'Star Trek'(tm) website?  I haven't heard this much PSB* since I told some geek with plastic ears to go jump into a river.

...

..

Oh yeah, you're slightly missapplying the Wave-Particle duality theory.  Any small particle can display wavelike qualities and any wave can display particlelike qualities.  You can't have the same theory apply to the particle (the positron in this case) and not have it apply to the wave (the energy screen).  It's either true for both or neither...

Um, speeds?  Let's see... a battle involving several waves of warships took a grand total of 11 microseconds to complete.....

And you can hide in the GP hull all you want, but there's a CAM with your name on it coming at you through hyperspace, where your hull can't block it.

You guys with these super ships.. lets put it this way, Your flying a fighter and you wont ever put a dent in these huge things soo why bother.. Id say that anything bigger then 10km is too large and shouldnt be put in the game..

Agreed. Except if you're going to use it as a main ship in the campaign, and you better have some good storyline reason.
