There's a thought. But the main factor deciding whether Strat's new ship is a new Vasudan carrier or a new vasudan destroyer depends on its size.

If it's 2km or so long, it's a destroyer. If it's 4km or longer, it's a carrier.

Hey Strat, how long is this thing, anyway? :D (And if Strat replies with the words "my thing is about nine inches or longer", I'm leaving. :wtf: ;) )

EDIT: Come to think of it, this new ship DOES look better than the Tanen, so if this thing could just be resized to 4.5 km long or so, it would make an excellent Vasudan carrier...provided it was adequately armed with appropriate turrets. :D

I would have thought armament and turret positioning would mean more when classifying ships, then size - 2km = destroyer, 4km = superdestroyer or dreadnaught. If it has a big/a multitude of hangar bays then it's a carrier.

Kudos on the design StratComm. I've seen nothing but well-designed and fairly original content from you. Curving the inside edges of those forward prongs would yield an even more aesthetically pleasing ship IMHO. Otherwise, it's cool!

It always kinda annoyed and confused me upon seeing all these new carriers and stuff with all the heavy beams and weaponry...

IMO Carriers should be lightly armed and almost completely devoted to Fighters. Depending on size, they should have 20 turrets max with 5 of those max being Cap to Cap beams.. but no BFGGreens or BGreens even. Maybe on BGreen on front or something, but mostly Slashers or something.. It just seems right that way.

Me, I always considered the Warlock and Tanen carriers to be mini-Colossus type ships. They take less than half the time to construct, have close to the same armament and can carry more fighters to boot.

IMO, if you need a decent amount of firepower that is more than a destroyer can give and the Colossus (or its FS player-made campaign equivalent) is not available, call in a super-carrier. :D

Great ship!
Can't wait to get it on my HDD.
Just one question: What class will it be?

I don't know about you, but I've class them like so:
1. Cruisers -       up to 300m, heavily armed, no fighterbays (n/f)
2. Frigates -        up to 1000m, heavily armed, n/f
3. Light carriers - up to 1200m, lightly armed, large f.bays
4. Destroyers -   up to 2500m, medium armed, medium f.bays
5. Battlecruisers - up to 3500m, heavily armed,  n/f
6. Carriers -     up to 4500m, medium armed, large f.bays
7. Battleships - up to 5500m, very heavily armed and armoured, ultra small or no f.bays
8. Dreadnoughts - up to 7000m, heavily armed, large f.bays
........

TrashMan, you forgot Juggernaughts, which should be Apocalypse/Gigas-like - double figure kilometers of length. :)

GVD Bennu sounds good. GVD Khonsu sounds pretentious, IMHO. :D
