[color=00ff66]Hmmm reminds me of a story I read in Fortean times about an assasination attempt on a romanian butcher that was foiled by a dog.

The assassin placed a crude device on the doorstep of the butchers house, probably hoping he'd see it and pick it up but a dog urinated on it and diffused the bomb. :)

Shut up! That is not funny. Sure, those people may have done a stupid thing and thank God they are still alive. This topic is spam and should be closed. It's not funny at all. It's a tragedy.

I should have put money on you reacting like this, Razor mate. Remind us where (in the former Yugoslavia) you're from again?

[EDIT] Basically, they're alive, so we can laugh and not feel to bad

I am from Serbia and even though they are still alive, this is not funny. By the way, these people are from Montenegro. Would you laugh  about it if it happened to your friend, relative or anyone close to you? Would any of you laugh?

I'd have serious doubts about my safety if I remained in contact with anyone who thought an unexploded bomb should be treated with anything except the utmost respect.

Even if this thing hadn`t exploded then what about if there was a fire?

karajorma is quite right - the first thing to do in such an incident is to smack each and every perpetrator on the noggin and say

Now don't do it again!

I mean, we have reports of children digging up old hand grenades at the beach, and thinking they've found a great new toy - that's quite worrying.

But what's more worrying is a group of grown up and supposedly intelligent people placing an artillery shell in their home, and surrounding it with their family and friends.

If a friend of mine burnt his hand on a hot oven, for example, I'd make sure they were OK, but I'd also laugh at them and say "that's what you get, dumbass".

A bloke I know went round a blind corner on his bike and got hit by a bus. That wasn't especially funny. What we found most amusing, however, was when the exact same thing happened to him again a week later. Oh, how we were laughing.

Frankly, ignorance is one thing, but these people knew it was an artillery shell. And they presumably knew that such objects tend to explode. It's when people insist on injuring themselves through downright stupidity that we laugh. Here's a quote from the SimCity 3K news ticker:

Quote
From the desk of Wise Guy Sammy: history laughs at many people who deserve to be laughed at

I guessed that you might take exception to this thread, Razor, since relatively speaking it's just down the road from you, but seriously man - lighten up a little :)

I agree that was total stupidity. I mean who can be that damn stupid to put a shell in his own home. This really is Stupidity with a capital S but it's not funny. It's tragic.

Yes it is funny. Nobody died, or got serious injures, and that's what makes it funny. It wouldn't be funny if people would've lost their legs/died or something.
