I've only played Dune 2 and Dune 2000. And, I've not played Dune 2 for years, but I've played 2k just a year ago.

So, my option might be biased, but I'd say 2k. I can't remember the Dune 2 too well, anyway.

Also voted emperor.

I just don't think the original Dune is that good.
Dune 2 is hard, because the graphics maybe. Dune 2k is just boring and aged...

Of the Dune games I'd have to say Emperor seeing it's the only one I've played... :p But in terms of graphcis/units it seems to beat the rest anyway.

However Emperor has incredibly shoddy pathfinding AI...

Well, think of what the games were at their time. Sure, you couldn't select multiple units in Dune 2 and the AI was an idiot, but at the time nobody gave a second thought to that since you could do so much other stuff that nobody had seen before. (same thing like in Doom; you couldn't look up or down, but nobody cared about that back then :D) Although regarding the AI, even now after a decade, the game world still has not come very far... :p

Eh? No. Dune 2 was to RTS what Wolfenstien was to FPS... C&C: Tib. Dawn was the Doom equivalent.

I voted Emperor: BFD (Note: It's not Dune Emperor - it's just plain Emperor), because I love having 3 different and varied sides. The extra alliances just make it even cooler.

But I must say that Dune 2 was probably the game I played the most - ever. Originally on a 386SX 25mhz laptop with a greyscale screen (no color!!), and then on a full color, 14" ViewSonic connected to a 486DX2-66! Wow, that was sooooo awesome!

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. I thought so... but it's still a "Dune" game... and on the 'poll' i didn't want to have all the "Dune" games starting with "Dune" except for Emperor... cause that would've looked weird :)

no it's not coz wolfenstein was actually the first FPS.
Dune2 is not the first RTS, there was siege before, and even before one console game ( tho I don't even want to imagine a RTS on a console of that "era"... )

I'd create another login from a friend's house and then proceed to post every single Machina Terra file I have on this HD. I don't know how that'd help it, but Styxx wouldn't be very happy.

And then I'd move to Hong Kong.
