Looks... corny.

Didn't he kill that Agent dude in the first one? Wasn't that the whole point of the end- the way they proved he was the Big Kahuna or whatever? I mean, if he just gave 'im a couple sick days, the whole premise of the movies gets kinda... pathetic.

I mean, you've got this guy who can make Bad Dudes explode but can't kill them (much as anyone with a stick of dynamite could do), fighting to "save" humanity from the system that's keeping the species alive and happy on this wasted, resource-less planet they've completely obliterated, by "hacking" in the traditions of the worst parts of Gibson, fighting against giant killer robots with an electromagnet and some stupid catchphrases. And sooner or later, the robots will develop the same kind of magnetic shielding we put in half our electronics. And half their crew's dead, on a big, clunky "hovercraft" maglev in a giant sewer. And there could well be half a billion "agents" in the Matrix if the computer got down to cloning software, all of which are fully capable of not only blowing up any Good Guys they find, but killing them quite thoroughly.

Some thing call for deep introspection, careful examination, and serious evaluation. "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Saving Private Ryan" and "Das Boot" come to mind.

Scifi action and special effects circuses are NOT among this list of greats. Such spectacles are to be enjoyed purely with the lizard hindbrain. You're supposed to just shut off your big simian fore-brain and enjoy it.  :D

Besides, they had backups on optical media of Agent Smith. ;)

Agent Smith is probably like Office. You install it on the system, wait till it deletes itself and then re-install it.

And as for filling the Matrix with Agents, they can only exist inside people, and this probably reduces the power output of the person in the Matrix, not to mention the only way to get an agent out is to kill the person he's in. So the Matrix would get ****ed. Add to that the fact that the Matrix is probably a Microsoft product and there's no way they'd be able to run that much copied software without the DMCA-Bots suing and having the Matrix shut down.

Naw, the Matrix gotta be DOS-based. You seen that interface?:D

It looked to me like the Agents could jump in and out as they pleased, as unless they were constantly killing themselves offscreen it'd be hard to explain all the times they would be way behind Neo or someone, completely out of immedate danger, then would pop up in someone right in front of him who happened to have some kind of weapon.

Maybe their Agent software is an advanced from cDilla protection software. It doesn't matter how often you delete it, it's still there. Office you can just reformat your hard disk.

It'd still be there, waiting for you to need it...

what I don't get, however, is why they didn't plug in animals instead of humans.

Because that would make for one hell of a boring movie.

The Matrix has you, Cujo!

Woof!

Scratch that, that would make for a funny-as-hell movie.

That's actually quite an idea. Having dogs and lions plugged into the Matrix with all their training uploaded into their heads at birth and able to maul/distract police at lightning speed allowing the good guys to escape.

Surprisingly, I found that out from the slideshow ads you get before the movie stars in threaters.

Yeah, it took them 3 months to build it I think.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

It's an action movie, an ambitious one but not something to read to far into... just take it for what it is and enjoy the expensive effects ;)

If that was directed to me, I want to say I was just talking about the titles.

what is the big deal with this whole Matrix thing? I have been hearing talk of it everywhere recently; does it have something to do with the matrices in math?
