"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Knowing that russian gots missiles as good as US ones, that the Mig31 flys at mach3 (f14 hardly mach2), and the 31 gots a better carrying capacity, the 31 is way better than the f14 for interception.

The '31 also has major engine trouble.  Tends to go 'flame-out' under hard acceleration...  (this is outta the horse's mouth from a captured/rescued russian pilot when they tried to 'buzz' the USS Independance).

I told you that It would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...

I'm working on something new... shhhhh, it's a seceret.

I think that's US intelligence propaganda. Russians engines are excellent. This was probably a way to say: show, their planes aren't that good.

No, that's what they said after we fished thier dumb asses out of the water after they tried to run away from our F-14s.  I was on the damn ship that day.

they burn up their fuel too fast....
they werent designed to last... just to get up in the air and take out as many planes as possible before getting splashed....

Two planes?  On the same day?  During the same incident?    Of course this happened back when the bird was still pretty new, the prob may have been corrected by now.

If you study most Warsaw pact equipment you'll find the same "shock-trooper" mentality (ships, tanks, most MiGs).  But you'll also find that thier artillery is pretty scary, as are thier helos.  Most of thier later stuff is also pretty good (MiG-29, SU-27), but it wasn't produced in much quantity before they went bankrupt...

I like the Fulcrum, by looks, and it does have a good armament.

I think the RAH-66 Comanche is a scout helicoptor. It is supposed to be very quiet and quite stealthy. It has some chaingun and also 6 hellfires or stingers or something. Was in Tom Clancy's Debt of Honor...

Thanx, I know what the comanche is, since gunship2000, it's even made by boeing. I wanted to know what was up with it.

Yeah...what IS up with that helicopter? I also learned about it from GS2000(a true classic  ) and haven't seen a whole lot of it since then...

There is a little info here, but not much on the development schedule. It is a dang fine looking chopper though.

heh! don't forget the "comanche" series from Novalogic
Btw the 4th one is under prod, and they finally left Voxel for a (trully) kick-a$$ 3D engine.

I love the Comanche. Paper-thin armour though, so if it gets hit it's a goner, but I like the stealth and jtus the sleek design.
