After checking out the mp3 Zylon posted in the other System Shock vs Helios (or something) I had an idea for an adventure for my RPG group and was wondering if there are any more mp3 or wav files out there of that computer core.

Basically anything I can use to make the RPG that much creepier ;7

Think of this as the perfect excuse to go pick up (or...sigh...download) copies of SS1 and SS2. All the sounds in SS1 are packed into a single big file (although I think there's a media browser tool someone wrote for it). All the SS2 sounds are WAVs in ZIP files.

I would but two reasons

1: I'm not normally a fan of FPS games
2: With work being slow lately I've got other things to put the $ into :(

I MIGHT download it if only for the sound files,..just didn't know if any sites online might already have them posted.

Question: Can anyone set up a download with a few sounds like SHODAN and mabe some of where ever the **** that is playing in the background in the thread ? I did download the demo and try it ,... didn't really suit my tastes and I don't want to spend $20 on a game just to rip sounds out and unintall it ;)

Actually I meant from the full version since i've got the demo ;)

But I'm downloading it to check it out anyways ,....thanks man :D


*EDIT*

Just checked them out...not bad at all. Actualy what I'm looking for most is actual sounds of SHODAN (I'm found perhaps 10 online thus far) and things like the "They se you ....run ....run" that's playing here in the thread (I did copy that BTW :D )
For ambient sounds ,....hehe...I'm actually using a few FS1&2 files :) Plus the Funeral and Syphon sound MODs from back in the day.

Best part is thus far I've given my GF and my groups main GM (Who's a player in this) nightmares from testing out the sounds I have now ;7

Does anyone else that found the game at HOTU know how to extract the music from the game files?

If you mean SS and SS2 ... from what I've read online all the sounds are in the snd amd snd2 crf files, which will open in winzip, winrar etc.

CRFs are for SS2 only. SS1 uses some proprietary packfile format. It is pretty easy (if tedious) to extract the sounds by opening up the sounds file in an editing program that supports raw format.

Hmmm... I actually have quite a bit of SHODAN speech already extracted. I could ZIP it up when I get home this evening.

That would be great man ! :) I'm after all the files I can get. Being this will be my first P & P RPG that I've run using actual sounds (aside from background music) I'm after as much as I can get my greedy hands on ;)

I was playing SS2 most of last night, so I heard some taunts and things from Xerxes and someone else I could not identify. I haven't heard from Shodan yet though.
