go to radio shack or something and get one of those extender wire things, and then switch the wire on that
ex:
[----] [----] <--- Speakers on computer

<--- connecter that attaches to sound card
[[]] <--- instead of connecting to sound card you connect to beginning of extention.

do you get it? it's hard to explain, basically you get speaker wire extension, and switch THEM, so it doesn't affect your hardware
