So... how can I reverse the stereo of my speakers with software?

Don't ask... it's a long tale.

:wtf:  Reverse the stereo... as in play the right speaker sound from the left speaker and vice versa.

i know, i was kidding when i said that in my last post ;)

i know how to do it in Flash, and i know how to do it in Cool Edit Pro

in fact, i recommend you download the demo of Cool Edit Pro, it's very easy to do it in that (i.e., play everything through left speaker, play everything through right speaker, play left speaker through right speaker and right through left, etc.)

Not aware of any software... cant just move the speakers, no?

Are they internal?  I don't see what would prevent you from switching the feed output lines...

Funny, I have the same pb. and the cool little box that allowed to reverse stereo in 98 is gone in XP. Bloodly MS idiots, why the hell did they remove it?

no. That is all you need to know. I cannot also meddle with hardware, since that'd reduce my 4 year guarantee to 1.

yes, but I want something that would run on background and do that all the time.  It's a bit too much brainwork to turn left when I hear a dragon locking on to me on the right.

the wires going to the speakers... somewhere from the speakers to where they connect to the sound card, cut the wires (there's two of them) and then switch them

so get an extension cord and meddle with that.

ahhh yeah...

the speaker wire plugs into the sound card at the (back?) of the computer...

go to radio shack or something and get one of those extender wire things, and then switch the wire on that

ex:

[----] [----]     <--- Speakers on computer
 |  |
 |  |
 |  |   <--- wire going to computer
<--- connecter that attaches to sound card
[[]] <--- instead of connecting to sound card you connect to beginning of extention.
 |  |
 |  |
 |  |  <--- extension cord
\\/  <--- cut the wires and switch them
 |  |
 |  |
{ }  <--- extension cord connects to sound card

do you get it?  it's hard to explain, basically you get speaker wire extension, and switch THEM, so it doesn't affect your hardware

I'll do that. Thought of it before, just wanted to know if there was a software solution. It's just a lot of trouble finding the cords.

  • What is this? I don't even...
flipping the speaker wire plugs is not meddling with hardware since you probably had to plug them in when you brought the machine home...

I'm guessing it's one plug, but I fail to see how changing something you had to set up to begin with could be a violation of the service agreement.  Most computer setups are near-foolproof these days (because most people setting them up don't have a clue what they are doing)

yeah, even if the speakers do 'break'... don't worry about the warranty, just buy new ones... they only cost like $5.00 these days :)
