I wonder how much trouble we would be in if somehow, the whole net just suffered a catastrophic failure and internet communication just broke down. Like, say, if some guys decided to destroy all the major servers and inter-continental pipelines.

Sounds like someone's been taking Tracer Tong's instructions a little too seriously.

Sorry about that guys, I didn't mean for that program to get loose.  It took a while for me to encourage it to gather into a single machine, then format the drive with a shotgun, but I got it, so you shouldn't have any more problems.

I really need to stop making possecessed programs.

There appears to be a Microsoft SQL Monitor worm spreading. Massive UDP traffic on port 1434 is affecting major internet backbones, including UUNET. Of course, servers and home users are being flooded as well. Many websites are currently inaccessible or slow, depending on your location and ISP.

The SQL worm attack began Friday. It's sort of DoS'ing port 1434. Affected software is Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as to be read in this CERT/CC bulletin. Affected users and server administrators are advised to shut down servers and install this this security patch or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3 immediately. After patching SQL should run normally.

Didn't we learn anything from CodeRed issue? When there's a security patch, admins should also install it.
