Well, on the same weekend as Columbia, there was a train crash in Zimbabwe (I think, it was one of those Z countries, anyway), in which a few dozen people were killed. And no-one gave a damn about that.

Well I read it in the paper a few days ago, i know it was a country in africa, that begins with a Z, it might have been Zambia, I can't remember.

Don`t see anyone making jokes about it either though. And if some one chose to I`d be as mildly annoyed as I was about the columbia jokes.

There is no such thing as Zambia, only Zimbabwe, Zaire and Namibia.

Like I said in that old thread, there are a number of other things that made this far more serious. Trained astronauts are in shorter supply than the common people, space shuttles cost more than trains, and one train crash does not stop all trains from running for a couple of years like it does with a shuttle.
