I'll take my own mods for a spin. I'm going out on a limb here, it involves some pre-Great War non-canon elements but it has potential (especially given the rapid consumption of available systems on the canon nodemap)

0Background:
"...it is the key to the future of our species. Through subspace, mankind can now travel distances unheard of in previous lifetimes in the blink of an eye. Humanity now stands on the brink of its destiny among the stars. The possibilities for the future are endless. Godspeed to the 300 million colonists who set out today to establish humanity's first foothold outside of the solar system: Sigma Draconis." ~Professor J. Whiteside, at the embarkment ceremony for the GTA Eden, March 21, 2314*
"Today marks a tragedy the likes of which human kind has never had to face. At 0200 hours galactic standard time today, only minutes after the Eden entered hyperspace, sensors monitoring the Sigma Draconis jump node began to detect increasing instability in the regional subspace field. Within an hour these sensors confirmed a complete collapse of the node. All contact with the Eden has been severed, and it would appear that the colonization ship never made it out of subspace in Sigma Draconis. All attempts to restore contact have failed, and preliminary data from the node indicates that no craft could have survived a subspace corridor collapse. The Eden, along with all hands abord, is presumed lost. Let us pause now to honor the memory of her courageous crew, and may god have mercy on the souls of the 300 million men, women and children aboard." ~President Crowell to the citizens of the Galactic Terran Alliance, March 23, 2314*
can we bump that date back a couple of decades (50 years) so that there is some justification for having so many colonists off of Sol? While Humanity mourned, and official record of the Eden colonization project was consigned to history, the first and only terran super-colonizer did safely emerge in Sigma Draconis. With the only avenue to Sol severed in one blinding flash, the would-be colonizers found themselves cut off with no hope of ever returning to their home. The Eden disembarked on Sigma Draconis II, where an immediate investigation was conducted into the collapse of the subspace node to Sol. It was concluded that one of the Eden's slow-charging subspace drives went out just after entry, and the remaining drives were not powerful enough to sustain the ship's subspace field within a node. Though the ship managed to clear the node successfully, the strain it had put on subspace in its passage caused the immediate collapse of the corridor. Without this knowledge, Earth could not explain the disaster, and it became widely accepted that the colonists were all killed when the node underwent spontaneous, natural collapse.
By the end of the incident in Capella, the long-forgotten colony in Sigma Draconis has done some rapid expanding of its own. Growth rates have skyrocketed, spurned by an abundance of resources and the necessity of cloning, and the population of the Sigma Draconis system alone is currently approaching 2 billion. The surrounding systems have been fully colonized, and a strong military presence established under the flag of the Terran Free Worlds. Several Ancient sites have been located throughout the Free World Alliance, and FWA researchers are within a few years of independent development of subspace stabilization technology. They have also developed space-faring warship technology comparable to the GTVA (shields developed independently) and have been expanding their military capabilities since picking up Great-War era radio chatter from Sol. The FWA would be a powerful contender in galactic politics if any connections to GTVA space allowed their direct contact. Further investigation of the surrounding systems found an indefinite network of subspace nodes, but thus far none has produced a conduit to terran-influended space. And with knowledge of the Great War and the Shivan threat, the FWA is not eager to push into unknown space to restore its link to Earth.
Ships and Stations:
FWI New Babylon
Size: 6km x 6km x 6km
Armament: 6 anti-fighter beams, 12 laser cannons
Fighterbay: 64 fighters/bombers standard, capable of maintaining 150+
A massive installation in orbit around many FWA core worlds. The New Babylon installations not military installations, though they do contain a fighterbay. Rather, these stations are home to over a million people each, and are hubs of commerce and orbital manufacturing unparalleled by similar facilities of the GTVA.
(my big civ station goes here. Still trying to get in-games of that thing)
FWI Sparta
Size: 3km x 3km x 2km
Armament: 6 heavy beam cannons, 12 anti-fighter cannons, 12 flak guns, 24 laser turrets
Fighterbay: 72 fighters/bombers standard, capable of maintaining 200+
The FWA equivilent to the GTI Arcadia (with similar functions to the Ganymede), the Sparta is a military command base. Well defended by 6 heavy anti-capital beams and numerous anti-fighter beams, the Sparta also boasts a large hanger and docking and servicing facilities for up to six capital ships.
model exists, but it's classified
FWDn Archangel
Size: 6km
Armament:
One spine-mounted extremely-heavy-beam turret (SuperBlue, you get the picture)
2 Long Range Beams
12 Heavy Anti-cap-ship beams
12 flak guns
36 anti-fighter beams
40 laser cannons
Fighterbay: 144 fighters/bombers standard, capable of maintaining 500+
Ships in class:
FWDn Archangel
FWDn Saratoga
Yeah, my mods start showing up here

The Archangel class, a juggernaught by GTVA standards, is the single most powerful vessel in the FWA fleet. The Saratoga is the command ship of the 1st Fleet in Sigma Draconis, and the Archangel is the supreme commander's personal command. Their beam cannons represent the latest in FWA technology, and can effectively destroy any known space-faring object in a matter of minutes. Though untested on ships of war, the Archangel's main cannon has vaporized a 1,000,000,000,000m^3 asteroid in a single shot. However, due to the power consumption of this main cannon, the Archangel is the only class of ship large enough to mount this technology.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/archangel_download.html FWD Raynor
Size: 3km
Armament:
2 Long Range Beams
10 Heavy Anti-cap-ship beams
12 flak guns
12 anti-fighter beams
20 laser cannons
6 medium-long range anti-capital torpedo launchers
Fighterbay: 72 fighters/bombers standard, capable of maintaining 200+
Ships in class:
FWD Raynor
FWD Hope
FWD Legacy
FWD Endurance
FWD Majestic
FWD Avalon - Commodore Greshan
FWD Justice
FWD Leviathan
FWD Integrity
FWD Tempest
FWD Formidable
FWD Providence
The second-largest craft currently fielded by the FWA, the Raynor packs as formidable a punch in its size as any Terran destroyer. All six FWA fleets contain two of these mighty destroyers, manned by the finest crews in the FWA fleets. They also serve as capable fighter bases, though the primary strength of the Raynor is its heavy strike capabilities.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/raynorview.html FWCa Phoenix
Size: 2km
Armament:
4 Medium Anti-capship beams
6 flak guns
12 anti-fighter beams
6 laser cannons
Fighterbay: 288 fighters/bombers standard, capable of maintaining 500+
Ships in class:
FWCa Phoenix
FWCa Trident
FWCa Frontier
FWCa Renown
FWCa Dominance
FWCa Andromeda
FWCa Wolverine
FWCa Relentless
FWCa Eagle
FWCa Hornet
FWCa Titan
FWCa Cobra
Poorly armed for its size, the FWA's carrier class is nevertheless a powerful craft when properly manned. Its hanger bays, dominating on its profile, house more fighters than even the Archangel class. These combat craft can be launched on a moments notice, to respond to calls anywhere in the system or to defend the carrier in the event of attack. This ship plays an exclusively supporting role in fleet operations, but can adequately defend itself if attacked.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/strikecarrier.html FWCv Chimera
Size: 1.1km
Armament:
3 spine-mounted medium beam turrets
2 medium beam turrets
8 flak guns
18 anti-fighter beams
16 laser cannons
Ships in class: 36
Armed with state-of-the-art beam cannons running the length of the ship, the Chimera is another example of advanced TWA technology. It is a more-than-capable corvette, similar to the Deimos in function.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/new_corvette_ingame.html FWCv Ajax
Size: 800m
Armament:
3 heavy, extreme-range missile launchers, all forward facing
5 Medium-long range anti-capship torpedo launchers
6 anti-fighter beams
10 laser cannons
Ships in class: 24
An unusual craft by modern Terran standards, the Ajax is a fire support craft of immense potential. Capable of launching high-yield, high-velocity missiles at targets from extreme range, the Ajax can devastate unsuspecting enemy battlegroups. However, if engaged directly, the Ajax is extremely vulnerable, as it has little fighter cover and only limited missile capabilities against ships not directly in front of it.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/missilecorvette.txt FWC Hyperion
Size: 500m
Armament:
2 spine-mounted medium-light (heavy for cruiser standards) beam turrets
6 flak guns
10 anti-fighter beams
Ships in class: 72
The smallest FWA ship, the Hyperion is a standard cruiser, overloaded with anti-fighter weapons. It also has two forward-facing cannons, deriving their power directly from the ship's engines and thus capable of higher-than-usual power ratings. Extremely effective anti-fighter ship, though of limited effectiveness against larger craft.
http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/hyperion.htmlFear the 1500 word post! I can't believe it took all of that. Anyway, fighters can be assumed to be comparable to those of the GTVA, I'll try to get a list up sometime.
Also, this isolation thing keeps me out of things for now. (Technically you all think I don't exist, but we aren't going there), and we could use an updated nodemap though it isn't necessary. The only connection to the existing map is a now-defunct node to Sol. Great thing is, I've done some star-map (real) checking, and it looks like I
could link in to Sol, Bernard's Star, Ross 128, Vega, and Altair when technology allows me to come in. I
may find a Knossos device in my territory or something when things get interesting.
