A friend of mone told me about "Bonsai Kittens" the other day, so I decided to look into it. I do not like what I found.

Bonsai Kittens

What posesses people to do such things?

I seriously hope that it is all faked.

It's a hoax. Do a search, there was a big ol' thread on it here a few months ago.

Oh. Well at least it is a hoax. I new there have been some strange practices in Japan (like foot-binding), but I never thought there could be anything that sick.

What is funny is that this has been posted at least three times here now and people still take it so seriously, screaming "evil! sick! perverted!" every time they see it. It seems that everyone immediately forgets the fact that half of the things on the internet are jokes and also meant to be such. :p

foot binding was primarily in China I believe....

I'm Assuming you reject the non-computational theories of mind that seem to be kicking around in philosophy/cognative studies (perpetuated by people such as Lucas, Penrose and to a slightly lesser extent Bringsjord) at the minute which seem to say otherwise.

That's one way of looking at the argument, the other is to see it as them saying chickens and cows are no 'worse' (whatever that is supposed to mean) than people (I'm assuming they don't discriminate against jews as opposed to say; Native americals or Turkish Kurds). I see your point that the poster/flyer probably wasn't produced with this philosophical question in mind as opposed to its shock value which I guess could be considered 'sick'.
